hockeyjx
On a stormy day in Atlanta, this was fun to see. Sure, Ovi gets paid, but he also truly seems to love the game like a kid ...even at 39. Great to have passion in whatever you do (paid or unpaid). Also, the internet wins with memes. If you don't follow hockey, this is an accurate jab at the New York Islanders...
craigb
I like the commercial that calls an Ovech-trick nine goals! 😆
57Gregy
Hockey leaves me cold. 🥶 Nevertheless, a notable achievement.
Marc Cormier
I'm in Detroit, so I have to look outside of my city to find good hockey cheer. Ovi!!!

I'm a Boston fan. Let's just say it's not been a great last few months, and I'm expecting tough times ahead. I'll be cheering for the old home teams this year - Montreal and Toronto.

We’re a long way away from those days here in The ‘D’. Having said all that, Bernie Parent was the reason I played goal for almost 50 years.

Granddad was on the Canadians to win the cup in 1926. Gotta go Habs first, even when they play the Wings.

Your hips lasted that long????? That's AWESOME! I retired from playing because too many parts were preventing me from playing the level I had played for years. I knew that if I couldn't play balls to the wall without worrying, it was time to go!
Marc Cormier
I JUST retired from playing net last month. One hip replaced two years ago that feels great, but now have a meniscus tear that won't heal. I'm 58 now but had the chance to play in a morning pickup with some great Detroit legends for the last 15 years and play goal in 5 alumni games. I can't wait to sell my gear. It's hard to look at now.

Great story!

Dont feel alone my friend, I know ur pain. Although I've never played real hockey, I once pinched my finger very badly playing air hockey. Then to make matters worse, when the kid I was playing called me a sissy for crying, I charged with both fist swinging. I almost got a lick in but then she pulled my shirt over my head and that's the last thing I remember. I was around 16 at the time. I actually think I could've won that fight but she was VERY big boned for a 12 year old. Anyway, I still have a little white spot behind my fingernail where the air puck struck me. I consider it my own little Stanley Cup. Afterall, she was gone when I regained consciousness so technically she forfeited the game. Ah, victory is sweet! 😎 1

Great story! That's fantastic! I'm not as brave as you guys. One broken arm at 16 is all it took. Actually, I finished the game with the broken arm, but that was the end of it for me. I remember sitting on my bed with my left arm in a cast from above the elbow to my knuckles, and trying to figure out a way to play guitar. Those were some of the longest, most depressing weeks of my life, and I figured: never again, guitar is the most important thing. One of the 3 G's: Guitars, Girls and Girls. 😁 But I loved hockey and I truly missed it. Still do. That being said, it's probably a good thing. I idolized the Bruins and I modeled myself after them, even if I did not have the physique or the strength. I used to go after bigger guys I would never have gone against off the rink, and hit them dirty. I'm lucky I got away with a broken arm (due to a fall). Plus, I had Bobby Orr-grade knees, so...

The game is on YouTube and you can see Reggie Lemelin's F-Bomb clear as day. Last game I played was for the NY Rangers when one of their alumni goalies had to cancel last minute. The Cup was sitting in the locker room between me and Sergio Momesso. Sitting there in our skivvies looking at the thing. Sweet memories made harder knowing i was playing some of the best hockey of my life last fall. What a drag to have to stop taking your love of the Bruins onto the ice at such a young age. That had to be so tough. I can't even conceive of it. What a blessing to have these instruments that give us voice, that speak back to us as much as we speak through them. And girls. I married one and now have three more. I miss the locker room even more now!!!!!
