GTsongwriter
Is this any good? I'm not sure.. I haven't tried it yet, but I saw this deal, so I'm posting it. https://www.pluginboutique.com/products/8111-IRON-2 During my hunt for the best Metal Guitarist sound I'm looking for, I found this deal. I have not bought this, I plan to get a demo version of it later and try it out. Edited March 14 by GTsongwriter
GTsongwriter
I played around with it for an hour... I'm not impressed. It doesn't have the necessary feel that I am looking for. I will have to search elsewhere. (Edit: Plus it's missing shortcuts AND the ability to assign a midi button or two that would allow you to search the different instruments within this instrument. I have to take my hands off the keyboard in order to click thru the different sounds on the very top bar.) Edited March 14 by GTsongwriter
ChazEd
For metal I think Carbon is the right choice: https://www.pluginboutique.com/product/1-Instruments/64-Virtual-Instrument/5842-CARBON Problem is, you can't amp it outside of the plugin AFAIK (no clean sounds). I own it but I think is fine at best. All those plugins in the other thread sound much better IMO.

If you switch off all other effects and use DI mode, I believe you should have something that you can use with your amps.
mettelus
Quick side comment on VSTis (in general)... bear in mind that some go on sale with pretty steep discounts. Both Iron 2 and Carbon were given away at some point years ago. Just keep that in mind when looking at VSTis.. many have sales early summer and BF so unless you need something "right now" it may be best to monitor them. I know they gave Iron 1 for free but never heard that they did that with Iron 2.

I think you are right that it was Iron 1 (Focusrite freebie from way back when).
Soundwise
I ran some comparisons between the first and second generation of UJAM guitars and was bitterly disappointed. V2 guitars lack consistency: samples are not trimmed precisely, so more often than not guitar parts sound out of time. Arpeggiators in V2 are counterintuitive. While DI signal and instrument mode look promising, I find that Kontakt based guitar libraries deliver much better results. However, UJAM basses v2 are great.
