Keith Wilby Posted February 9 Posted February 9 (edited) Hi all. This song is written and sung by my pal and (then) bandmate Rob Rigby. The instruments and backing vocals are by me. Rob passed away many years ago. I'd always wanted to do a better version of his song than our band did (the guy on keyboards couldn't really play and the drummer raced like Mo Farah) but I could never sing it well enough, so this vocal is (mostly) from the terrible quality 1986 video recording here. Not the best quality audio but still better than me singing it. Rob's on the LH Washburn, the dopey looking bassist is me 😁 Comments and suggestions welcomed as always. Guest Posted February 9 Posted February 9 No crits from me Keith - what a great tribute. Thanks for sharing. Andy
freddy j Posted February 9 Posted February 9 Great tribute indeed. Given the 1986 quality, I think that it sounds good. I thought the "boys in the band" all did a great job including the vocals. The lead vocal was very good as were the BGV's. 1
treesha Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Very nice tribute to your friends song. You are lucky to have video from back then! It wasnt all that common then. I think the instrumentation you created goes very well with the song. The vocals arent too bad quality really. He has an interesting voice. If you wanted to try to improve them I think some plugins that take out resonances, room sounds, dereverb kind of stuff whatever are probably available as a trial. Anyways, nice work and you had a good singer/songwriter/bandmate in Rob. 1
Bajan Blue Posted February 10 Posted February 10 Hi Keith - like the track a lot and I think you have done a great job on the vocals and instrumentation. Cool Nigel 1

Thanks for the suggestion though 🙂 1
