steve@baselines.com
Hello all - been a while since I've been back. Time to catch up again! This is a cover from one of my favorite old albums, Trilogy by ELP - this one had some success on the charts. https://baselines.com/?p=7262
Barry Seymour
I've always liked this song since back in the day. Some thoughts... Hearing some background noise / hiss in the acoustic guitar. It could be a tad fuller in the bass too. The vocal processing sounds more 80s than 70s. In my admittedly dated opinion, it makes it sound less personal. This is a very nice cover!
equality
I haven't heard this one in a long, long time. A very nice flashback. It's striking how similar the opening fagioletto chord is to Yes' Roundabout. You do a great job on this, one of the best by ELP.

Thanks for listening and your useful comments!

I think it's the exact same harmonic chord for both songs on the twelfth fret. Thanks for listening! Steve

Steve Sorry for misspelling, should be "flageolet" I guess.
mark skinner
Great song to cover! I don't think I've ever known an acoustic player who didn't learn at least the intro to this one. Heard your Great covers , and think you could "nail" this one with a little more work. Nice .. ms
Bajan Blue
Hi Steve Enjoyed this but I have to own up, I was never really into ELP So only recently, I bought a vinyl copy of Brain Salad Surgery......put on the first side with great anticipation.....and absolutely hated it!!! didn't get to the second side! But this sounds good and your playing is excellent Nigel

I've tried for ages to play the song Trilogy on piano - I get close but always manage to screw it up when trying to play through it. Keith Emerson was really talented, but like you, I thought most stuff was just too far out there for me. Steve
Ross Smithe
Great cover Steve, not an easy task covering ELP, you did it justice! Maybe could be a tad fuller in the low end and drums, but great work all around!.

bjornpdx
This is one of those songs where I'll wait in the driveway for the song to finish before pulling into the garage. I don't think I've heard a cover of the song before, maybe because of its unique sound, but you did a nice job of it Steve. -Bjorn
