The one thing I find inexcusable with Scaler is they dump the samples on the C drive.
Sure you can (and I always do!) create a junction. But there is no excuse for not having the option to put samples where they belong; ON THE SAMPLE DRIVE!

that is all…

Very true. Internal sounds should be optional, so you shouldn't need to download them at all, or for every update. I have added this to the Feature Requests part of the Scaler forum.

Well the scaler 3 times installer did have a box you can uncheck bypass the internal sound install.  But I don't think and alternative path option exists.

Yes, I think I left it selected when I installed just to see if the sounds had changed and were any good, thinking that I would move/delete them later.

In fact, I have now discovered that you can delete the sounds and Scaler 3 doesn't mind  - it just ignores the missing ones and you hear silence instead.  So I have left Felt Piano there plus a few of the other category sounds which are okay (one bass, pad sound etc). I had also forgotten, but just checked, that they did implement a user selectable location for the sounds in Scaler 2 under preferences.

For Scaler 3 they are located here in Windows

C:\Users\Public\Documents\Scaler Music\Scaler 3\Sounds

Yes and the mklink on my system is:

mklink /j "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Scaler Music\Scaler 3" "E:\SampleLibrary\Scaler 3"

Of course YOUR sample drive might NOT be E and your sample library might not be SampleLibrary

Had the Scaler installer at least informed what the path to "Sounds" would be, the mklink could have
been created PRIOR to install...

here's a hint; create the folder Scaler 3, or if you prefer "Scaler Music" (just amend the example above to
reflect the the parent folder is Scaler Music) on the drive you keep your samples on, then create the link,
Scaler will then install the "Sounds" where you want them (which in my case is NOT EVER on the C drive).

mklink /j "C:\Users\Public\Documents\Scaler Music" "E:\SampleLibrary\Scaler Music"

I'm too stupid to mess with this anymore.

My solution these days since I also game is have a 1TB OS drive.   It's a lot easier.  I even had some overhear despite even games are now bloated.

I think Scaler 3 (and going forward) has lots of potential, but there is a lot of room for improvement.

One thing that drives me CRAZY is that the GUI is NOT resizable vertically and horizontally (only proportionately).
So much wasted space and unnecessary scrolling!

Here's an example from a post I made on the Scaler Forums. You can see the entire thread here:
https://forum.scalermusic.com/t/scaler-3-gui-settings/19813

Kudos to the team at Scaler Music - great job on Scaler 3! Look forward to 3.1 and more (and a much-improved GUI!)

Scaler 3.0.1 is out.

Download from your ScalerMusic account.

PB was still showing v3.0.0 when I just checked but it might be updated by the time you check.

I can report that the standalone version is now finding my 3rd party plugins. ✔️

Here's a mini change log for this "silent" update.

  • NEW Chord Panel Display (shows notes and chords on MIDI input)
  • FIX Bound area not reverting to white keys when turning of Keys Lock | Chord Notes/Extensions/Scales Profile
  • FIX Crash when dragging multiple chords to Sketch Page when chords extend past row limit
  • FIX Crash when adjusting velocity of individual notes with multiple chord clips selected.
  • Improves stability
