locrian
Hopefully all these new features are not going to make this a CPU hog. Version 2 consumed a fair amount of real-time and CPU resources in Cubase on my Windows laptop. Finger crossed.
mettelus
We will see. I am still not sure if it will host/record audio tracks yet (making it more of a "full DAW") or how much functionality is embedded. Upside is that being a VST host, it "should" be lighter weight than a DAW so might be a simpler way to noodle with VSTis that don't have a stand-alone version with the added bonus that you can roll any work done into a DAW project later on.

I wonder if it will allow us to export our work from the standalone version into a comprehensive format such that it will recreate everything we were working with rather than just the notes if we're limited to only a MIDI export. Honestly if they add the ability to simply record a few tracks of audio and host say a Drum VST that I wouldn't have scaler actually playing any of the notes - it looks like it could replace basic daw use. But recording audio is a pretty big part of that package. Even if it can't this is a great addition/update but adding that would make this much more. BTP
Release date is March 25th. Upgrade from Scaler 2 is $29. Midi editing & news: 3 3
ZincT
Thanks @BTP Nice upgrade price for V2 owners and what seems to be a huge update 👍🏻 2
mettelus
He also made a good point early on in that video... Scaler 3 outright will cost more ($79) versus buying Scaler 2 before the 3/25 release date ($49 with the free upgrade to 3) if you do not already own Scaler 2. Personally, I like having an older version to fall back on in newer versions get a bit more CPU-intensive than expected (won't know about 3 till it is available). Skijumptoes
Seems like they're selling direct via their own website now, I always thought it was a plugin developed by plugin boutique yet they seem to be separating as their own entity as they've become more established? With this in mind, does anyone know if you purchased Scaler 2 via plugin boutique that a Scaler 3 upgrade will work if direct from their site? Or do you have to stick with plugin boutique for the upgrade? Trying to get my head around how they know if you own Scaler 2, if it's not on their own system to check. As I can't even remember signing up to any additional account to activate. Edited Thursday at 02:03 PM by Skijumptoes

I don't know if they are going to change something but previously they indicated that with this change of them having both the direct path and through PB that upgrades for old PB users would have to be done via PB. I'm sure they will say more about it at launch. You are correct there was never an additional account activation, simply the wonderful authorization system. According to the latest video you have to purchase the upgrade from PB in that case. https://youtu.be/7IdZTDtPMWk?si=9ENEI_9yKnt63m0e&t=37
LAGinz
So then because I purchased 2 from PB, I can only upgrade at PB, where price is $39?

It will be $29 USD there. It isn't out for another month for the update.

I just had a check to confirm the situation, and yes this is correct based on their FAQ, so people need to be mindful of updating at the correct place. I did wonder if it would be an issue: https://scalermusic.com/support/faq/ I already own Scaler 2. How do I upgrade to Scaler 3? Scaler 3 upgrades for existing Scaler 2 users will be available closer to Scaler 3’s launch in March 2025. Upgrade pricing has not yet been announced. If you purchased Scaler 2 from Plugin Boutique you will need to purchase a Scaler 3 upgrade through Plugin Boutique. If you purchased Scaler 2 from scalermusic.com, you will need to purchase a Scaler 3 upgrade through scalermusic.com I wonder if updating Scaler 2 > 3 at Plugin Boutique will then send you to scalermusic to setup an account for future upgrades perhaps? locrian
Lot's of new, very useful MIDI tools that can be used to quickly alter and assess your melodies. And the upgrade price is very generous. What a great company and product!
Tianzii
I’m curious if in the new version you can map chords to midi keys. Couldn’t find a way to do it in v2, or I don’t really know Scaler enough. Does anyone knows if v2 or v3 supports this?
