That Thing You Do

Recommended Posts

It has been a while since I have participated on the forum.  Small matters have interfered with my participation.  Small matters such as illness and two hurricanes which cut a path through the Tampa Bay area within a few weeks of each other.

Now that that is over with -- I am submitting a song.  It is a silly little love song that has bits and pieces of Blues, soul and pop embedded in it.  So, I am not sure in which genre it should be placed.

As always, I would be grateful for any comments, Crit.'s, suggestions, etc. that might help me improve it and carry over to any future songs.

Thanks.

To my ears, it's Motown meets the Travelling Wilburys. Very enjoyable.

A few timing issues here and there but then it kinda adds to the charm. Good lyrics. After decades of listening to Peter Gabriel it's refreshing to hear frivolous lyrics 👍

Jeepers!

Classic Freedy J.  I like the horns!  The story is great.

I have no idea what a hurricane is like, never mind two of them. Glad you survived!
I like the classic blues thing that you do. They fit in with your stories well. Always a pleasure to hear your songs Freddy.

Hi Keith.  Thanks!  We are OK after the visits from Helene and Milton.  My abode did not get damaged but lots of clean up outside from downed trees, branches, etc.  Unfortunately my sister lives nearer the to the Gulf and had some damage to her condo and lost her car due to flooding.  We are still working on some of the replacements and fixes for her.

Thanks for you kind comments about the song.  I am not sure why but timing issues have become a growing concern for me. I guess that I have been listening to too much Jimmy Reed.!??   I must admit -- when doing songs I have more fun when the lyrics are frivolous.   Thanks again.

Hey tom.  As always, I appreciate the comments and input.  I don't know what happened that the cymbal got cut off at the end but your right it needs fixing.

Hi Jesse.  How are you?  I'm glad that you liked it.  Thanks for your input and  kind comments.  Much appreciated!

Thanks very much Jack.  Ya, the blues were on us after Helene and Milton but today  - "... the sun is shining on both sides of the street."

Hi KSband.  Thanks very much for listening and for your kind comments.

Hey Bjorn.  Thanks very much for your concern.  I have been through a few hurricanes before and they are always ... ummm... interesting.  However, Helene and Milton were the strongest I have been through and they were back to back right through the Tampa Bay area.  That was a bit more than interesting!  Thanks also for your kind comments about the song!
