Hello , I havn't heard this song in a Long time  but , I woke up 3 days in a row with the guitar part running thru my head. I thought I may as well cover it and try to get it off my mind.  Thanks for the listen and any suggestions for improvement.  Thanks ..  mark

Mark, I love the guitar part which is kind of simple but beautiful and you played it beautifully. Wasn't sure if a male vocalist could make the lyrics work but you did. All around excellent.

@bjornpdx , Thank You. I Really struggled with the simple main guitar part. I had to swap to a nylon strung guitar to get it done and then did a lot of copy and paste.  I think I listened to every version of the song before starting . Thats including all the covers. Apparently Luke Combs (country singer) covered it recently. Get any extra time check out him and Tracy Chapman doing a duet of it at the Grammys. Killer performance and it gave me the confidence to try the male vox parts. I think I got too twangy but the only way I could try and cover both of the vocals.  😁

Nice cover. Guitars sound really good.

My only critique would be the vocals sound unsupported. You have a nice tone for this but it's a little uncomforatble to listen to as you sound like you're running out of breath.

@Mark Morgon-Shaw , appreciate it Mark.  I'm Not satisfied with the vocals either. I sounded pretty unsure of the lyrics and phrasing. I've decided to completely re record All of the vocals. It's been pounding rain here and it's too noisy to use a mic. I'll probably get it done in a few days. I deleted the tracks and quickly hit "save" and cleaned my audio folder.      No choice now .   Thanks ..   mark

Wow Mark, that's one tough song to cover. I remember when this was first released, it was like nothing else around at the time and I've always really liked it.

I think you nailed it, the percussion and guitar work is top notch and the backing vocals work really well. No crits on the lead vocal for me - I'm super impressed.

OK ,  I'm calling this one done .   Made some mix changes and @garybrun took care of the mastering for me.

It's Way further now than I could have ever gotten it by myself . Thank You all for the listens , commments and suggestions.
