Keith Wilby
That's not the title, it's what I think I might be doing with this one. It's "All Work No Play" and it's a kinda comment on corporate working and some of the BS that goes with it, something I used to do before I retired. Corporate work that is, not BS. Well perhaps a bit of both 🤭 Any comments appreciated, even if it's "give up, it's rubbish" 😃 https://www.bandlab.com/revisions/b8bf7518-9081-ef11-bdfd-000d3a980db3?sharedKey=SHNoeQIpfUSizE3Hgh1PZQ Edited October 3 by Keith Wilby Link replaced.
DeeringAmps
Surely not “rubbish” Keith. Did have to listen on my iPhone, so not prepared to offer any suggestions. I’ll have a proper listen later and get back… t
Wookiee
The mix sounds fine here Keith, as to the horse no need to flog it, the commentary in the lyrics is valid especially in these troubled times. I do wonder if you might consider an instrument lead in the gaps between verses, just a furry thought.
DeeringAmps
Is the piano just a little loud in the verse? That or push the vocal up? I'd definitely push the guitar up in the solo; just me... 1 hour ago, Wookiee said: commentary in the lyrics is valid 👍 t 1
AndyB01
Oh boy don't give up on this one Keith, it's a keeper. I've swallowed enough of that corporate BS to last me a lifetime of lifetimes (one reason why I went contracting towards the end of my career, before finally jacking it all in six months ago to try and retain what little sanity I have left). Great guitar work, drums sound good to me. A little spit and polish perhaps but not much else. Did I detect a smidge of Hammond - some more of that might be nice if so. Enjoyed it. Busker Pete
Good song Keith, enjoyed it! If I had to make a comment, I would say reduce the delay on the vocal a bit
SUPAREELS
To my ears this sounds like a good start to an idea that seems to work with good meter. Your vocal is too low in the mix for this attempt and TBH you need to practice your breathing technique to reach those higher notes ... you have a great voice and that is an instrument in itself. I would work on this a little more as I feel it has great potential ... I have writers block bad time at the moment and if I was writing this I wouldn't think it was rubbish ..Good luck with it
mark skinner
Keith , I think you are being a little too hard on yourself about this one. You've for sure been raising your own bar lately. I like your thick lower vocals on this and for sure your guitar work. I'm sure you'll make some minor changes and be happy with it soon. I Like it .. mark

Regarding the higher notes, I think this is as good as it gets. The further I get into my 60s the more I find myself making minor adjustments with Melodyne 🤭 Many thanks to you all for your comments and suggestions, something for me to chew on 👍
SUPAREELS
I'm always trying to bury my voice in the mix, lack of confidence. Regarding the higher notes, I think this is as good as it gets. The further I get into my 60s the more I find myself making minor adjustments with Melodyne I'm 73 so I know what your getting at, but these days you can adjust your work's pitch to suit the higher range of your voice. I have had loads of people over the years in my studios who thought they couldn't reach notes ...but with a little training ( and due to the fact they really could sing ) they achieved a great result .. try out a few la' la laaas with proper breathing to prepare your vocal chords too reach a desired pitch ... and tune your song to your voice ... after all it 's your song 😉 Again .. good work ATB Steve

Drums are just a VST and the guitar is an Epiphone LP through a Boss GT1 pedal. Simples 🙂
