God, this is so sad! Janet and I were pretty close musically at one point. Between losing her and Phil, I'm totally gutted. :(

And I think it sucks that it took a sad event to see Danny back!  I miss your posts from all those years ago!  Hope you're doing well.

Hey Craig!!

Aww thanks man! It's nice to be missed! You were always super cool to me!

Nah, nothing to do with the sad event. My life has changed so much, I haven't had time for anything. Between the studio kicking my butt, my cover band, my original band and a new career, (I'm an instructor at a school of rock franchise. I teach guitar, bass, drums, keys, voice and recording) my fiance is ready to leave me. ;)

I'm doing great and hope you are too!

Wow Danny, that's a lot going on there mate.

On the teaching gig - having personally benefitted innumerable times from your advice, knowledge and (endless!) patience, all I can say is your students are in very good hands 😊

As Craig says, it's so sad under the circumstances of this thread, but it is nice to see you around.

Yeah, it's a lot right now. My initial situation was, during the day, of course most people are working during the day, so the studio was slowing down and I didn't know what to do with myself during the day.

My father passed away in 2014 and firearms were left behind. We have strict laws here in NJ with guns. I was scared to death of them my whole life. I had to get what they call a Firearms Purchaser ID to legally possess the guns.

Long story long, I decided to learn about them and got heavily involved in shooting. I've had extensive training by 2 firearms instructors, then tactical training and I got my Firearms instructor permit. Lol! This eventuelly lead to me going to gunsmithing school online.

So the gunsmithing is probably going to replace a lot of the studio work in time. I've been really trying to cut the studio stuff down. Recording studios are hard to maintain these days.

Anyone can download Cakewalk bandlab or Reaper for free. People love to experiment and create music on their own. So one day I started planning for the demise of my studio....which hasn't happened yet other than me turning jobs down.

This then lead to a friend that said the school was looking for someone like me. I went and checked it out, and fell in love with my boss, the school, the kids and everything about it instantly. So I work there 4 days a week, the pay is fantastic and I coupons be happier with my decision. I never had kids of my own, so I get to love these kids and be a friend and mentor to them. It's so rewarding, Steve and I'm so thankful that they love me and listen to everything I tell them to do.

I'm now the teacher all the kids like in the school. I teach about 12 kids per day and also on other days direct their shows. And get this....not sure you remember, but my entire life, I have tuned my guitars to an open C chord. It's the only way I've known how to play. Of course I can't teach like that, so I've learned how to play in standard tuning. Haha! I still use goofy Danny tuning for everything, but I teach the kids in standard. It's amazing how different I play on the different tunings. The kids crack up because I rarely play in C. When I do, and I go nuts, they are like "omg, you can actually play!" Lol!

Anyway...sorry, typical Danny novel. I see Janet smiling in my mind knowing her passing has sparked conversation on her behalf. I'm still struggling with losing Phil....he passed right after talking to me on the phone a few days later. Gutted man! 😭
