Ozone 11 Advanced $99.50

I will say this, I LOVE how the "advanced" versions of these very good plugins allow you to break out the individual plugins by themselves. I was going to go on about Nectar and how I was hoping for years for them to break out those individual component plugins, which they finally did.  I use the "Auto-Level" and "De-Esser" all the time.

Looking now at the Ozone 11 individual plugins, I realize that I could/should dive into these more!  I find the full Ozone 11 a bit "too much" to deal with and so don't really use it as much. But the individual plugins that come with the "Advanced" version have a LOT of appeal looking at them now.  There are probably better deals for the Izotope stuff, like picking up the Music Production Suite when it is on sale, but Ozone 11 has 17 individual plugins plus the mother ship that combines all of them with AI.  So this seems like a decent price to be honest.  Although, you're probably better off waiting for a deal on the "Music Production Suite" because then you get a TON of other really good stuff for not much more $$.

Back to say "ouch"!

I was going to try out the "Low End Focus" on an almost done mix where I already have some CPU pigs on there.

But at 29% ??  Not gonna happen...

Some of the last few iZotope releases have been excruciatingly CPU-intensive, so the older versions have stayed in favor with me. I only got newer versions with the last MPS and Nectar 4's analysis algorithm did a very obvious system-level stutter on my machine. The CPU breakdown is pretty obvious as well for those that own the DWSNBN (pictured above).

These are mixing plugins. Buffer should be set very high. I can run a dozen of these plugins no problem on a 5 year old laptop, but buffer set to 1024 or 2048 samples. If my laptop (which isn't that great) can run it, anyone with a decent desktop system should have zero problem - but not if you're trying to run 64 sample buffer like you're doing life performance with them.

I can run 100 of these plugins on my desktop system (12700K overclocked) with zero problems and a buffer of 256 samples.

This does not seem to be the full version. If I put it into my shopping cart, it says:

Ozone 11 Advanced: Upgrade from Music Production Suite 4 or 5 or Ozone 9 or 10 Advanced

That makes since.  I was about to jump on this deal.  I own Ozone 10, but rarely use it because I can't use it as individual plugins and I've found that Waves J37 & Sonible Smart EQ 4 & Smart Limiter combination to be much better than Ozone.

An upgrade from Ozone 10 Standard is a little bit more expensive:

Amazed how many people don't understand that.

I think I was at 1024 when I tried it out. But like I said, it was towards the end of a mix, which usually means I'm running out of CPU and it's time to "finish"...

🤣

Agreed. It really needs to be one of the first things taught to people first entering audio production. Over the years I've received so many stems, stereo mixes, etc. with pops and clicks because the client / colleague didn't understand buffer settings.

That's an odd comparison. Ozone is massively robust mastering suite with far more uses & utility than these three plugins combined. Comparing which one is better makes absolutely no sense. I could understand comparing individual modules if you were only interested in EQ, limiting and saturation, but there would be no point in discussing or owning Ozone if you didn't need it's gazillion other features.

Also - Ozone 11 adds so many mastering features (stem focus / vocal focus, multi-band transient shaper, clarity module, delta listening feature, upward comp, etc.) that it's completely pointless to compare it anything other than a mastering suite with similar features - and there are none that I can think of. Theoretically, owning Ozone 11 advanced, with individual modules, could replace countless plugins across the whole mixing spectrum. I don't see a reason to own plugins like Split EQ, Soothe 2, Pro-L, various imaging plugins, various transient shapers or dynamic EQs, or quite a few saturators with how good a job most of these modules do.

The only reason I don't recommend Izotope products is because there constant upgrading means you are buying into endless additional costs since they milk the hell out of their way-to-frequent updates.  And their installation software is easily one of the worst in the industry.

I usually just use the AI feature where it listens to the music and gives me what it thinks is best.  I don't go no further with the product.  Sonible products seem to give me the best sound without doing any modifications to the plugins.  I love simple plugins so I can focus on making music rather than mastering.

The only thing I'm dig deep with is creating sounds, like using Shaperbox (my favorite plugin so far).  I love to run Shaperbox in parallel with another Shaperbox for the most awesome effects!

The reason I hate iZotope and Native Instruments plugins is that they constantly bug me once a month to connect to the internet to verify my purchases.  I'm steering away from those products.  Sonible hasn't ever asked me to reverify their software!  I'll never buy another Native Instruments or iZotope product again just because of their constant nagging!
