dominic snell
Hope someone can help, I can download midi files from the internet and they play them using vsts in Cakewalk no problem but I've had no success trying to play my midi keyboard which is linked with a midi/ usb lead. I've selected the input as usb. Is there anything else I can try or do I just need to by a new lead? Many thanks in advance.
reginaldStjohn
You need to make sure you select your midi device in preferences for midi, not audio. https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360034169394-Connect-a-USB-MIDI-Keyboard
dominic snell
Thanks for your thoughts. In Midi-playback and recording I have selected usb2 as input- I'm using a midi/usb lead out of a korg synth. Can you thing of anything else I can try?

If I had that issue, I'd check to make see if midi data is getting into my computer from the controller/keyboard. I would try MIDI-OX as well as recording midi data. If data is coming in, I'd look for how the data is being routed to my sound device(s) and check settings that control the sound.
Giorgio Gabriel
And check that the same midi in/out interface is NOT selected as control surface...
