Doug Steinschneider Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 We're doing a guitar heavy mix adding IK Tonex to many guitar tracks. We have a fairly powerful computer but I've decided we should look for advice on the best way to "print" tracks or whatever alternative is recommended so that we're not running 10 instances of guitar amp sims. What is the recommended way to do this in Cakewalk? We want to keep the option open to further modify the track. Thanks
John Bradley Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Just hit the snowflake “freeze” button in the track view. It’s non-destructive; you can always unfreeze later and do more editing and/or tone tweaking. 3
Base 57 Posted August 6, 2024 Posted August 6, 2024 Make decisions and move on. Archive the original track. 1

And if you right click the freeze icon there are options where you can control what gets included in the Freeze
57Gregy Posted August 7, 2024 Posted August 7, 2024 I would also copy the project and Bounce to Tracks all of them. I have read a couple threads here of folks having problems opening projects with many frozen tracks that have multiple plug-ins and VSTis. That seems to occur after some time has passed, often due to uninstalled or unauthorized synths or effects. I always Bounce. 1
Doug Steinschneider Posted August 8, 2024 Author Posted August 8, 2024 Thanks - I think everyone's advice above is good. I get the recommendation to Bounce To Tracks - VST plugins get updated - uninstalled - lose authorization etc. The Freeze option makes sense while the session is active. 2
