Jay Marshall
Recorded my project, pans were working fine, come to mixing and my channel meters are not responding to panning. My master bus pan control is working fine but it will only pan the whole mix left or right. The individual tracks not panning. Can anyone help with this issue. Thanks in advance! Craig Anderton
To be clear, is the audio panning, but the meters don't show it? Or does the audio not pan?
Jay Marshall
Hi. For clarity neither the audio meters or the panning worked. But I created a new master bus and that solved the problem. Thanks for getting back to me.
Noel Borthwick
Most likely your issue is that your tracks were going to a master bus which has its interleave switched to mono. If you do that track pans will no longer work until you switch the bus out of mono interleave. The fact that it got solved by creating a new master attests to this.
Jay Marshall
Hi thanks Noel yes, I did try this but it wouldn’t stay switched, instead it kept reverting back to mono interleave as soon as I took the cursor from the button, hence the new master bus. That seems to have solved the issue. Many thanks.
Noel Borthwick
@Jay MarshallDid you have a plugin that forces mono on the matter bus? If you have a copy of the problem project please share a link and I can take a look as to why that might happen.
bitman
This can be caused by yes, a mono plugin on a stereo track or bus or both.
wetdentist
is there any other reason this panning issue might happen? i looked at all my tracks and busses, and they are all set to stereo interleave, but when i render to stereo master, the wav file's pan seems really heavy to the right side, even though i have nothing of any bearing to the song panned like that in the tracks and busses. wetdentist
i deleted the master bus & created a new one, and thru that process, i was able to fix my problem
Noel Borthwick
Please send the CWP file (for the case where it doesnt work) and we can look at why you don't see pan.
wetdentist
as it turned out, the person i am collaborating with had the right & left channels on the Hardware Outputs sliders set at different levels. since i never have that visible, it took a while for me to figure out that there was the cause.
