X-53mph
So what is he selling? Right at the end........."buy my EQing course". But aren't all music production courses the same? 1 3
Scott H
But, but, but, what about my prized UAD Pultec Passive EQ Collection? The interface looks super old school vintage! Surely this has the special analog mojo. I buy the vintage looking gear because I want to cosplay audio engineer. Someone needs to shut this guy up. He is spoiling all the fun! https://www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/equalizers/pultec-passive-eq-collection.html Edited May 21 by Scott H 2

CSistine
Seeing the Apple sign in his video all the time, I am not sure whether I should mistrust this guy! ? He has forgotten that the handling (UI) of the EQs is quite different and everyone has another taste! E.g. for me an EQ without direct number input is almost unusable or if the text is too small ... A user interface has to be comfortable for you as individual! He also forgets the limits of a plugin. Maybe the maximum freq is only 17000 Hz, or Q cannot go high enough ... (For example I was searching a long time to find a Gate/Expander with all the functionality required for a special task.) Other than that I believe that he is right!
dumbquestions
From a sound design pov: what about the “analog” saturation produced by overdriving an emulated digital version of a real life EQ. Is that all the same too? Or is he just saying that boosts & cuts in db at any frequency point can be achieved through any eq plugin (which… that part is true). But what if I am level matching & using eq as more of a drive style effect? Idk if I can replicate driving neve circuitry with logic’s stock eq for example, but what do i know

Idk if I can replicate driving neve circuitry with logic’s stock eq for example, but what do i know So of that gets chalked up to subtle differences. With a null test you won't hear a lot of differences as eq saturation usually is going to be very small in most plugins on a single track. Id agree that we don't need a large locker of digital EQs but even with the most feature rich eq on the market sometimes I want a different UI or limited options and has less to do with actual sound differences. That said, some EQs do sound different when you really push the settings.
