Apparently, one technique was for all three to switch orientation of their guitars. And the drummer too.

Not our fault that you can't play a guitar right! ?

(See what I did there? ?)

The opposite of the left hand is called the right hand.

Just saying.?

the opposite of right indeed is left, but nobody can have 2 opposite hands

(as there is no opposite for hand -> examples of opposites are dark/light, wet/dry, liveband/KISS).

could live with describing left/right hands as sort of mirrored versions of eachother, though.

It is an often overlooked fact that most people have more than the average number of hands.

growing up, we were prevented from saying

out in left field

left out

or any other left handed non-pc language. ?

You know... to be inclusive.

If you're not allowed to say all of that, then what's left? ?

So it would have been considered gauche to use the word left, right?

Sinister was another.  I think it has a root in left in some other language.

Quite correct. From Latin, through old French. So unsurprisingly, the prejudice against "left" is the same in French, from which words like gauche are borrowed and used  as a derogative epithet. Fascinating stuff for language nerds.

On a different level, there's also the so-called Left-hand path, associated with black magic and Satanism.

How very adroit.

Bien joué.
