Bapu Posted July 1, 2023 Posted July 1, 2023 (edited) About a 18 moths ago a family friend, Benni, lost his wife, Ruth. He mentioned to me that he had written many poems to her over their 50+ years of marriage. He asked if I could put some of his poems to music. I gladly agreed. I then asked me mate Daryl1968 and his current MrsDaryl1968 to handle the vocals. Daryl did the organ, strings and guitars. I arranged the bass and piano using ToonTrack EZKeys2 and EZBass. Hugo Ribeiro (from Citizen Regen and Moonspell) provided the drums. Here is the result. Verse 1: Was it only yesterday that we said our vows And should we now take our bows We have had our ups and downs And had our share of frowns, And still our love abounds Pre-Chorus: Every night I will always say What's in my heart, every day Chorus: I will never say goodbye tomorrow With all the pain and sorrow of losing you Another day I will borrow, so I won't Have to say goodbye tomorrow Verse 2: As we celebrate our special day Your love always lights the way And here we are, closer than ever As one and always together Repeat Pre-Chorus and Chorus: Bridge: We always kissed each other goodnight No matter what, it's only right Who is this picture of love and truth Here she is, her name is Ruth Repeat Chorus: Edited July 1, 2023 by Bapu 6

PhonoBrainer Posted July 3, 2023 Posted July 3, 2023 Absolutely incredible cadence choices for those lyrics. Daryl's voice clear as ever, a melody floating above some awesome chord choices. One of my favorite collabs from you guys. 2

Since Benni (and Ruth) are of the Jewish faith, it's too bad he did not ask me to do this before the unveiling of the headstone service his past December.
jwnicholson78 Posted July 12, 2023 Posted July 12, 2023 A very moving tribute. I'm sure your friend must have really appreciated it. 1
