Robert Hale
I am learning to select effects. Cakewalk closes each time I select and add a plug in. Example: Console screen, scroll up > click + to add effect > follow menu to PITCH SHIFT > enter > screen waits a moment, then closes CW. What can I do differently? OutrageProductions
Are you clicking on the <+> sign just to the right corner of the FX bin?

OutrageProductions
How about RMB in the blank space of the FX bin? Also; does it happen on any/all plugin EFX?
Robert Hale
I have only tried the ptch shift. What is RMB?
OutrageProductions
RMB = Right Mouse Button clik. It could be an issue with just that effect plug. Try a Sonitus gate, reverb, etc. Edited June 10, 2023 by OutrageProductions
Robert Hale
I barely know how to use the plug ins within Cakewalk. How do I load others?
Robert Hale
How may I save my projects if I elect to delete and re-install CW?
Byron Dickens
Deleting and reinstalling Cakewalk is not going to solve anything.
scook
Not sure what the motivation is for re-install but User data is not affected by uninstalling the DAW. This includes not only your projects and their associated audio, but stuff like the DAW configuration files in the user directory too.
Robert Hale
Byron, I am talking to CW now and reinstall is one of their suggestions after clearing cache. They also asked me to try different browsers. Crashed in both Chrome and Brave.

I'd recommend re-installing the latest VC++ redists, which both CbB and many other plugins rely on: After installing the bundle that Noel links to, you could also try installing the latest one from Microsoft:https://aka.ms/vs/17/release/vc_redist.x64.exe (link taken from this page: https://learn.microsoft.com/en-us/cpp/windows/latest-supported-vc-redist?view=msvc-170 ) Make sure nothing else is running when you install these... you may also need to restart your PC after installing. Robert Hale
mmm, ok... it says cakewalk when I open it. "While you need a BandLab account to access Cakewalk by BandLab, you do not have to utilize BandLab's social platform or Mix Editor. These are entirely separate from the standalone program Cakewalk by BandLab." https://help.cakewalk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360021666394-What-is-Cakewalk-by-BandLab-How-is-it-different-than-BandLab-#:~:text=BandLab's Mix Editor is a,standalone program Cakewalk by BandLab. msmcleod
@Robert Hale - can you post a screenshot of the application running? (CTRL + PrtSc will take a screenshot) This will clear up any confusion.

scook
Seems like BandLab support need to check their scripts. At least, they should have referred the user to Cakewalk support. Support should know better. This really needs to be addressed.
Noel Borthwick
Pitch Shift is not a Cakewalk plugin installed by us. It appears to be a Magix direct X plugin. It's probably badly installed on your PC. Try using other plugins other than this one. This is what I see for pitch shift on my PC
scook
It's definitely 3rd party but the name is too generic to be meaningful to me. The image in your post looks like a pitch shifter that came from the Sony Creative line MAGIX bought years ago (Sound Forge). IIRC, those don't all play well in CbB.
Robert Hale
Wow, yes! The next 4 plugins opened just fine and no crash! Thanks all.
