Notes_Norton
Diana Krall - Full Concert at the Newport Jazz Festival I've not heard this before, but I like Ms.Krall live better than on her studio work, so I'm expecting it to be good. Here goes!

The voicerange is amazing. The backup music is ok. ...but i feel something is missing. I should get goosebumps and tears in my eyes, but doesn't feel a thing. Just acknowledge the technical perfection.
Notes_Norton
Today is John Paul Jones' birthday. He seems under-appreciated in contrast to his other stellar band mates. As a bass player myself, I think he is among the very best rock bassists, and this song demonstrates my point. Just listen to the bass. My favorites are definite Adagio and, to a much lesser degree, SOS. For me, there are parts of the following song where the voice does give me goosebumps. Some of it is due to the effects treatment (you'll know what I mean when you listen). Hmm... I think this may be a good subject for its own thread! Notes_Norton
Music from the movie, "La Jeune Fille en Feu" ("Portrait Of A Lady On Fire"). This is very different music for me. It's all female vocals, I don't understand the words, it starts out as an eerie drone, adds rhythm, then polyrhythm, and builds to a nice climax. Wibbles
One for @craigb The Sisters of Mercy - BBC Sessions 1982, 1983, 1984 The first time I heard the Sisters was the John Peel session version of Floorshow/Alice. Some of the session versions are better than the versions released on vinyl.
craigb
Tanks! I've been having a tough couple of weeks and needed something. Heh, doesn't that first track remind you of certain other bands? Kind of like Joy Division meets Bauhaus.
