Notes_Norton Posted June 8, 2020 Share Posted June 8, 2020 (edited) For a few years, when saxophones were not in great demand, I predominantly played bass, and doubled on sax if necessary. So I listen to a lot of bass lines. I admire the bass playing of John Paul Jones and feel he needs more recognition. He probably doesn't get enough because he rarely stands out, always supports the song, and never gets in the way of the melody. Here is one of his most melodic, it's busy, it soars, but it still supports and never gets in the way of the melody. Listen to the bass playing and see if you agree or not.
