Wibbles Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 ... a couple of minutes research reveals the hips belong to Morgan James and she likes singing in her underwear. Damn you Notes! Look at what you've made me become.

Wibbles Posted November 10, 2019 Posted November 10, 2019 Probably the second greatest cover version of all time, with one of the most poignant videos of all time: 3
Notes_Norton Posted November 11, 2019 Posted November 11, 2019 (edited) Talk about great covers. Ben E King did a fine job on this song, but Tom Jones knocked it out of the park. I (Who Have Nothing) - Tom Jones Edited November 11, 2019 by Notes_Norton

I used to listen to them as well as the Mills Brothers since my dad liked them a lot (he loved vocal harmonies). That introduced me to swing music and still love it.
Notes_Norton Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 Great take on a Louis Prima song. We do that one at gigs, but instead of two guitar solos, I do two wind synth solos, one emulating a muted trumpet and the other a tenor sax (and try to play in the style of Sam Butera). Notes
Mesh Posted November 12, 2019 Author Posted November 12, 2019 Of course this isn't (quite) swing, but the swing factor is definitely present (especially during the break) and one of the reasons I like DLR's style.

Vernon Barnes Posted November 12, 2019 Posted November 12, 2019 More listening ahead of a gig at the weekend. This one is relatively local in Totnes in a small club.
Notes_Norton Posted November 13, 2019 Posted November 13, 2019 (edited) You all are exposing me to music I didn't know existed. Thank you very much!!! Putumayo Presents - Cape Verde - (various artists) Edited November 13, 2019 by Notes_Norton
