Kurre Posted October 11, 2021 Posted October 11, 2021 Someone know of more good songs built on soundeffects like this? Michael B Tretow - Den Makalösa Manicken (the incomparable thingumajig)
Notes_Norton Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 I Can't Be Satisfied - Muddy Waters (just a bit of history here)
Kurre Posted October 16, 2021 Posted October 16, 2021 I only liked Cass McCombs first song "Harmonia". But that was a beautiful song. ?
Kurre Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 I wondered what happened to her. Kate Bush - The Man I Love 1
Notes_Norton Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Eva Cassidy - Blues Alley Concert (IMO Eva left us way too soon)
Guest Posted October 22, 2021 Posted October 22, 2021 Here's one you may not have heard of: Amanda Lehmann Memory Lane. This is from her recent (and first) solo album (Innocence and Illusion). The sadness and tragedy that touches someone to write something this good is a painful thing to witness, but I guess that's what makes songs like this so personal and special. Who is Amanda Lehmann I hear you ask? Steve Hackett's sister-in-law, she also appears in his band and on several of his albums; featuring on guitar, occasional lead vocal and BGVs. Andy
Notes_Norton Posted October 23, 2021 Posted October 23, 2021 I found this one doing another Band-in-a-Box project for one of my customers. One nice thing about making projects for BiaB is that it introduces me to some music I may have never stumbled on before. This is one, and I plan to investigate the group some more. The UK guys on this forum might know about them than we do in the USA. It's interesting and a bit quirky. 78 Stone Wobble - Gomez 1
Notes_Norton Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 Straight, No Chaser - Thelonious Monk When I was gigging in a jazz band in the 1980s, we played this one often.
craigb Posted October 25, 2021 Posted October 25, 2021 Isn't Jazz great? You just hit any note you want and, if one doesn't sound right, just make sure to return to it and hit it with emphasis to show you meant to hit it! ? 1
Notes_Norton Posted October 28, 2021 Posted October 28, 2021 Dmitri Shostakovich, Symphony No. 7 in C major, Leningrad (1941) - London Philharmonic / Valery Gergiev

It's like a Country band playing the Byrds! ? Here, try this on for size. This is the full Dusk album; good stuff! ?? This is definitely one of those albums that gets better with each listening.
craigb Posted October 29, 2021 Posted October 29, 2021 For me he's a lot like REM. I can get seriously into each, but only for short time slices. ?
Notes_Norton Posted October 30, 2021 Posted October 30, 2021 This is really interesting, well done, and the guy can sing...
