New World Symphony – Antonin Dvorak

Now numbered #9, but in old recordings it's called #5. That's because Dvorak wrote 4 symphonies before he was discovered by Hayden.

It's one of my all-time favorite symphonies. In the fourth movement there is a place where he combines the themes of two movements to make the melody, and also uses a part of another theme for the bass, and one more for the countermelody. Combining the main themes from all 4 movements in a way that I didn't recognize until I heard the symphony probably scores of time, IMO is genius.

If they were see-through the picture would have been a little bit pinker and a lot more wrinkly.
