RikF Posted February 18, 2023 Posted February 18, 2023 (edited) Hi All, I bought a new classical guitar , composed this little piece inspired by the works of M.C.Escher. Sorry about the breathing noise, bad lungs, can't be helped ? Rik edit 11-3 messed wih the placement of the guitars, the eq and the reverb Edited March 11, 2023 by RikF 5
Grem Posted February 19, 2023 Posted February 19, 2023 (edited) Well done. Good recording too. I never heard any breathing btw. That player, says BandLAb on it. Is that the regular Bandlab site? The community IOW. Edited February 19, 2023 by Grem

Yeah, I noticed that. I just opened CWbBL and saw that I could do that. Pretty slick actually.
RikF Posted February 22, 2023 Author Posted February 22, 2023 Hi grem, the wonders of modern technology, what's next? Sliced bread? ? RIK 1

Bajan Blue Posted February 24, 2023 Posted February 24, 2023 Hi Rik Really nice playing - sounds great - love the sound of the Cordoba Guitar Cool Nigel
RikF Posted February 24, 2023 Author Posted February 24, 2023 Hi Nigel, thanks for listening, glad you like the sound of the guitar ? Rik
RikF Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 Hi All, did a revision of this piece. The arpegiated guitar is now doubled and eq'd seperately and one track delayed 10ms, panned hard left and right, Lead guitar is now square in the centre. Reverb is now a send. Have a listen, if you like.
markno999 Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 Rik, Fantastic piece, like what you've done with the placement and reverbs too. Well done. Glad to be hearing your work on the forum again. Regards
RikF Posted March 12, 2023 Author Posted March 12, 2023 Hi Mark, thanks for listening, glad you like it. At first I just panned the two guitars, I think this sounds better. Rik
freddy j Posted March 12, 2023 Posted March 12, 2023 An absolutely lovely song and some wonderful playing! Love the clear bell tone of the guitar you are using.
RikF Posted March 13, 2023 Author Posted March 13, 2023 (edited) Hi Freddy, thanks for listening, glad you like it. This guitar does record very well. RIK Edited March 13, 2023 by RikF
Guest Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 Hi Rik - nice work on the arpeggio (not easy to maintain the tempo) and tone is very nice. Did I detect an altered tuning or is it tuned to regular pitch? Some of those chord changes put me in mind of shades of Ant Phillips early solo work (Tregenna Afternoons). Lovely stuff - well played Andy
RikF Posted March 13, 2023 Author Posted March 13, 2023 Hi,Andy, thanks forlistening, glad you like the arpeggiated part. This is in standard tuning but I get why you think it might be an altered tuning, the chords are all triads plus the open high e string for every chord, makes for some nice disonance here and there ? Didn't know Ant Philips, listened to some pieces on youtube, nice stuff. Rik

I've got most of his back catalogue - eclectic would be the word but there are some absolute gems in there - Field of Eternity is a particular favourite of mine.
bjornpdx Posted March 18, 2023 Posted March 18, 2023 Rik, Very nice and well played. Love that classical guitar sound. I kind of wanted to hear the arpeggio part by itself for a few measures with chord changes. Just a suggestion. I like the title which seems to fit the song well. -Bjorn
