Anders Madsen Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 If I power up my Icon Qcon console after I started Cakewalk, Cakewalk offers to add it. I Answer "Yes" and some spinning icon indicates loading. It is added, but it does not work. So I have to restart Cakewalk. Is this an (old) bug, or am I missing some essential setting somewhere?
Byron Dickens Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 You should have all of your external devices turned on first, before launching CW. 1
GreenLight Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 @Anders Madsen I've many times wondered the same thing, but have adapted Byron Dickens' method to turn on my MIDI controller before starting Cakewalk, as it rarely (never?) works to do it afterwards. Hm, but maybe it actually used to work when I was using MIDI DIN, but not now when using MIDI over USB.... ?
Noel Borthwick Posted November 5, 2022 Posted November 5, 2022 It should work. I just tested it with my Arturia Keylab and plugging in the device while CbB is running works fine. I get a device inserted prompt and when I choose yes, the MIDI device works fine, and I am able to record MIDI. Are you getting the device Inserted prompt and choosing Yes? Sometimes if you unplug and replug multiple times in a session you won't get the prompt because we avoid displaying redundant prompts. If not, you can also CTRL-click the "Reset Audio and MIDI" icon on the toolbar. This will force Cakewalk to reload the driver. If that doesn't work either the issue is with your device. 2 2
GreenLight Posted November 6, 2022 Posted November 6, 2022 I just tried it again and it actually worked well, with my NI Komplete Kontrol S49 mk1 over USB. ? Though I know it doesn't work always for me, but I'll remember the CTRL click trick for next time. Thanks Noel!
Anders Madsen Posted November 7, 2022 Author Posted November 7, 2022 Could be the Icon drivers then. 1
