bjornpdx Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Stratos 1977 I spent some time with the new Cherry Elka-X vst synth, trying out the presets and tweaking the knobs. Pretty soon I was getting a Klaus Schulze kind of a sound which I used in this song. It's spacey electronic music featuring filter frequency and resonance tweaking along with the filter ADSR envelope tweaks. It takes a lot of time to hit the right combination of settings to get that Schulze sound. Not totally happy with this one but here's what I came up with. It's more of a backing track. Gonna add some keys on top if I can think of how to do that. As always don't listen while driving or operating heavy machinery. Synths used Arturia CS-80 Cherry Audio Elka-X Omnisphere Thanks for listening/commenting. 5

Bajan Blue Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Hi Bjorn - really like this - I've always been a big Klaus Schulze fan and irrlicht is one of my favourite albums! Very cool indeed, love it Nigel PS - I like it, like it is - nothing else needed!!! 1
mark skinner Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 Clean and crisp. It's almost surround sounding . I really liked the lows coming in around the 2 min. mark and at the outro. Yeah , melody line on top of it would be nice. I enjoyed the Great mix .. mark 1
Xoo Posted September 17, 2022 Posted September 17, 2022 I like it - it has a hint of Pink Floyd about it too to me (Shine on You Crazy Diamond) with the drone opening. It obviously doesn't stay there, but that doesn't matter - it ends up in a really cool place. 1
bjornpdx Posted September 18, 2022 Author Posted September 18, 2022 Thanks tom. Appreciate the lesson and comment Hi Nigel. I thought I had most of Klaus Schulze's music but he's done so much I've probably missed quite a few. Thanks Mark Appreciate it Thanks Kevin for listening and commenting
Lynn Wilson Posted September 21, 2022 Posted September 21, 2022 Bjorn, this hits me on a visceral level, unlike other songs I've heard from you. It seems dark and sinister, therefor, cinematic, and ready for a movie or documentary. Though I've been incommunicado for a while, I've heard most of the songs you posted lately, and you've been keeping the beat going for a long time! 1
freddy j Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 Hi Bjorn. This does have backing track for a cinema or TV video. I agree with Nigel above -- it sounds good just as it is. This number definitely sets a mood early on and maintains it throughout. Really good stuff pal. 1
bjornpdx Posted September 22, 2022 Author Posted September 22, 2022 Lynn and freddy, thanks for the comments. I was going for a dark sinister tone which seems to have come across. -Bjorn
Wookiee Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 @bjornpdx Nice to hear you have had a chance to play with the Elka-X not really had much of a chance myself for obvious reasons. It is a real beast though from what I have had a chance to do with it. Do you really need more on this I doubt it, well perhaps another 10 minuets . Just sit back close ones eyes and float off drift with it.?
Larry T. Posted September 22, 2022 Posted September 22, 2022 great, as usual....the sequencer parts fit perfectly....had to give it a like even at this stage of creation, i don't think it really needs much else as you have a lot of good stuff mixed really, really well at this stage....but of course, carry on!!!! ????
