Haha yes that snare grabs a lot of discussion. The drummer wants that ball-peen hammer on steel sound. He is in another traditional band and has to use a different snare. I decided to just let him be to express himself. I like it.

nice tight recording!

 

the snare sound, is pretty typical of this genre, i see no issues with it at all.

i think the band is too tight, to be referred to as a punk band,

i'd classify this as pop rock with punk tude.

heheh

The snare the best part, the drummer knows his Punk sounds. This brings back memories of the 90's when I had the studio. ALL the bands sounded like this. You get a 10 out of 10 for capturing the essence of Punkizm.

As noted by the Bat the snare is right for the genre his observation about being a little to tight is also probably a good point, mix translates here on the Adam's

 I really agree with Bat and Wookie - I used to play in a Punk band and believe me, this is way too tight??

But excellent as a Pop / Punk recording - great mix by the way
