Mouse Disappears When Using Pro Channel

Question

Posted

I have been using Cakewalk for many many years but recently I'm having a problem with the mouse vanishing when I press the EQ section on the Pro Channel.

If I move the nodes to adjust the EQ the audio tends to intermittently jump and the mouse is no longer functionable. I have to then restart the session.

I have a relatively new i9 Setup with 14 cores and an Apollo x4 Audio Interface. 128 gig ram. SSD etc.

I can get excellent track count with no problems at all , Its just the anomaly with the Pro Channel and the mouse.

I was wondering if you can shed some light on this as I cant even touch the Pro Channel.

I have the latest Cakewalk By Band Installed

Many Thanks

Steve

1 or multiple screens?  If multiple, does it happen on both screens?

Does this happen inspector or track view (or both)?

What screen resolution? Windows Scale and layout at 100%?

What graphics card?   Installed latest graphics drivers (using manufacturer's websites rather than Windows updates).

Note: I have configuration as per signature and I am not having this issue.

Hi David.

It seemed to be random at first ... but is getting worse.

I always use the Basic Template.

I am going to try various templates today to see what happens.

Regards

Steve

If GPU hardware acceleration is enabled, see what happens if it is turned off.

Win10 Settings > System > Display > Graphics Settings

The GPU acceleration was already off.

Mine is on and I don’ have this issue.

Note: The latest Nvidia drivers are 511.79

I am wondering if it’s worth going to the Nvidia Control Panel > 3D Settings > Manage 3D settings and doing a restore.

The cursor disappears when click-dragging any fader, knob & etc.

eg. Fader all the way down. Click-drag all the way up. Cursor disappears while fader moves up. Release mouse click and cursor still at the bottom.

Apparently by design so their movement is unobstructed as the cursor can sometimes get in the way of what's going on.

Mouse cursor issues can sometimes be caused by custom mouse software - I know I had a bunch of issues when using the Kensington Works application that was shipped with my trackball. All my issues went away when I uninstalled it.

My experience mentioned above has occurred for 20+ years even with standard equipment.

I'd like to know exactly what's happening with the OP when his mouse is no longer functionable.

I was thinking the same thing when reading through this thread.  I have to concur.

I have never had the issue as described by the OP
