Alan Charles Lancaster (7 February 1949 – 26 September 2021)

Maybe not so well known over the pond, but familiar to most of us old rockers as a founder member and bass player of Status Quo.

The first bass player to perform at Live Aid:

Anyone in the US who was around then must surely remember Pictures of Matchstick Men--it was a mega-hit over here.  For decades I never heard of them again until I was playing "Whatever happened to . . . " [groups/artists I remember from back then] and stumbled onto some Status Quo concerts/videos on YouTube.  I was amazed to learn they were still rocking all those decades later and definitely enjoyed what I heard in the videos.

I never knew the names of the guys in the group but I knew some of their music. Everyone, well, everyone of a certain age and above, knows Pictures Of Matchstick Men over here. Sad to hear he's gone.
