user6795010302235982
Whenever I click Log In I get the error message mentioned in the Title of this post. When googling this message I don't get any results! Does anyone know why I get this?

Vishaag
Hello @user6795010302235982! I work with BandLab on BandLab Assistant — could you let me know if this issue is still persistent?
user6795010302235982
Yes I get this error still. I tried uninstalling it through "add remove programs", and then I ran the installer again "as administrator", but the same error message shows up as soon as I click "Log In" Edited April 8, 2021 by user6795010302235982
RobertWS
Perhaps your firewall is blocking some needed messages. Can you check it's log?

user6795010302235982
It looks like it's related to COM permissions. Every time I try to log in I get a warning in the system log: "The application-specific permission settings do not grant Local Activation permission for the COM Server application..." I've tried too fix it by following some general blog post about how to set up COM permissions, but I did not succeed. There must be an easier way to install this software, right? Is the assistant really necessary?

scook
There is no reason to use BandLab Assistant to install or upgrade CbB. For new installs and updates to CbB older than 2020.09 try the Cakewalk Web Installer To update CbB 2020.09 and newer use the in-app updater on the CbB help menu. BandLab Assistant is still part of the "offline" activation process.
