Have hi plugins been deemed safe to install.  I recall about a year ago his original site was attacked.

I believe all is ok now. I have d/loaded a number of plugins over the last 6 months with no issue.

I hope Tunca fixed the annoying bug he calls it a feature. In some of his plugins, adding more gain automatically reduces the output by the same amount.

I was clicking around on different things in the link and saw an article that caught my eye.

It was a link to SOS about how hot your signal should be going in to a vintage passive EQ VST.

10,000 paragraphs later they finally tell you it's -10dB at the very end.

Just thought I'd save you all the trouble of reading it in case you saw it. ?

Wouldn't that depend entirely on how the dev programmed it?    i.e. I believe the analog "sweet spot" for Waves plugins in -16 or -18dB.

I'm sure you are right. They will peak higher but I try to have all my tracks hover at -20dB rms. I started using external hardware and it's easy to get your signals too hot so I try to keep them low.

I'm more than happy with the analog EQ's that came with the Fat Channel in Studio One. Plus I also have a collection by Nomad Factory but I never use it. I can't hear any difference between those and other's I've demo'd when used in a mix. Same with the various Softube compressors. I bought those too then Studio One included their versions with their Fat Channel and I can't hear any difference at all in the mix. If I A/B them and critically listen then yeah, maybe.

-18 dB FS is considered the "Sweet Spot" for most Hardware and Plugins (since the
Plugins emulate the hardware).  Peaking can go as high as -6 dB FS, which is pretty hot, but you want RMS to stay at
about -16 to -18 as you stated...

yeah .. With chrome I just went to the Patreon link and tried click to download .. got unsafe message on all of them that I tried. But to download I would have to intervene and tell it go ahead anyway. So that Q remains .. is it safe?

What is that site you can drop a file onto and see all of the virus engine results?   I have it bookmarked but can't find it ATM...

I get a lot of false hits on Virus Total, which isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it has caused me to double check everything. If I get a hit on both of those sites then I won't run a file. I got a hit on the Brave secure web browser installation file today on one of the scanners on Virus Total but got 0 on Dr. Web.
