I don't update from within BA anynore.  I just download and install it manually (with BA exited of course)

Like you, I had to install the last few manually, but this one worked straight from within the App

I had to install manually last time and worked perfectly this time upgrading from Bandlab Assistant.

Many thanks.     All ok.

Before installing it said the previous duff version was running and needed cancelling, so clicking on the 'X' to close a running instance of Assistant obviously doesn't actually work.

Yes, that's correct! Just install the Assistent again. I did it yesterday because of the same error as you got.

Clicking the 'X' in the upper right closes the UI but the program continues to run. To shutdown BA, click the gear in the upper left to open Settings then click the Quit button.
