Meter Colouring

I know that meter colouring can be changed but as far as I can tell the db level at which this change occurs is not configurable and there are only 2 clours

I want to be able to have meter change at three levels to assist with the 'Gain Staging' process

Between Infinity & -18db = Colour 1

Between -18db & -10db = Colour 2

Above -10 db = Colour 3

I've never seen anything other than green meters. Interesting.

Great observation and idea. 

Beside supporting the idea my only addition is to suggest making the db switchover set points user programmable.  For example you suggested above -10db for color 3 but I may prefer for color 3 start at -9db or -12db.

Non-segmented meters are in Preferences > Colors with 3 choices: VU Hi (-6 to 0); VU Lo (Inf to -6); & VU Tick marks, which oddly works only on Segmented meters (what???).  Peak is set to red and not changeable AFAIK.

Segmented meters are graphic files that can be re painted, but the color divide is still set at -6 so you can only change color ranges above that, as the lower part repeats for the extended range options.

I would add a different color scheme for MIDI meters. At a glance - it would be an improvement to discern midi from audio meters immediately , like making the MIDI display a selectable color.

You can do this with Segmented meters because they are graphic files.  Not possible with Non-Segmented as they are drawn by the program internally.

Will be great to have it like in Cubase. In Reaper I can do this too. Open files meter_strip_v.png in image editor and change color as you want.
