Mickey Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Will Cakewalk open Sonar Producer 8 sessions? I will not have Sonar installed on the new computer I'm getting. Will cakewalk be able to open the Sonar Producer sessions that I have stored in files? Thanks...
0 Colin Nicholls Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Almost certainly. Some plugins might be missing, though, if you don't have them installed in your new computer. If you have used virtual instruments or effects in the project, and can't reinstall them (even temporarily) then you might be missing some information from the older session, and will need to recreate it using modern substitutions for the missing VSTs. 1
0 scook Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Yes Cakewalk can read old SONAR projects. As noted above, if the projects used plug-ins bundled with SONAR 8 you will want to install it before installing Cakewalk. If you used 32bit SONAR 8 you may want to install both 32bt and 64bit SONAR to ease the transition. Cakewalk By BandLab is a 64bit program so if the projects were made using 32bit DX plug-ins, unless the plug-ins were ported to 64bit the plug-ins will not load. If the projects were made with 64bit SONAR there is no need to mess with 32bit SONAR but you will still want to install 64bit SONAR before CbB.

0 chuckebaby Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 Depending on how you saved them, If as .CWP then no problem (except the mentioned above). If stored as Bundle files ? I've had a few from Sonar 8 not open.
