Obviously a massive amount of people love Output stuff and use them in their music. When I moved over from my Mac and Logic to my PC a few years ago, I got Komplete, EZdrummer, Sonar, and $600+ worth of Output. It was one of my first purchases, and it just didn't work out. Not for me at all, but obviously terrific for somebody else. And then I started making music on my new setup and ended up buying other libraries that suited me more. But after that, I love Portal. So that makes me curious about Analog Strings and Analog Brass & Winds. And a lot of expansions. Will I like those things as much as I like Portal? I'm not knocking Output. I realize these things are personal. So what I would gently propose to others, would be maybe to just start out with Signal (or even the free Signal demo) before diving in as deeply as I did. Output offers very generous deals to people who trade up to the whole package.

I really like granular effects--that's why I bought Audiority's Grainspace, which is incredible and 50% off now for $22.50, it's lowest price ever. If you want to transform all your sounds in this way, this plugin rocks. One of my very favorites. Until now, of course. So I talked myself out of getting Portal because I had this. But now, thanks to Matthew, that I have Portal, it's just on a whole other level. By a county mile it is my favorite purchase from Output. In fact, if I could get permission from Output, I would sell all my stuff--Signal, Exhale, Substance, Rev, lots of expansions, in a heartbeat. They are cool, but I have never used any of them once in my music. I've played with them a lot, but never used them. I doubt I ever will. I've already been using GrainSpace, and now I will be using Portal. My feeling about Output is that they are sold like the bright shiny, hippest, coolest thing. If you buy their stuff, you will be young and beautiful They have the best interface in the business. They made me want them so bad. They look like a 10 but for me in practice they were a 2. On the other hand, Omnisphere looks so tired and corny and 70s--particularly its name. Yeesh. I don't know how I talked myself finally into spending all that money. But on a scale from one to ten, Omnisphere is a billion. For me, anyway. Having said all that, I can't get rid of my Output stuff, and I am very seriously considering whether the other Output libraries I don't have and the many expansions are worth the price it would cost me to get them. If that makes sense to you.... it sure doesn't make sense to me.

I think you're referring to Noir, by Sonokinetic. Filme Noire movies are very different.

The funny thing is that the Portal expansions will cost more than Portal did.

I installed it without issues. I think it's super cool. Maybe there most beautiful interface and it sounds great. I have a nice granular effect already, so I didn't need it, but I"m glad I have it. Like all Output, it works well with NKS, so I can control pretty much everything with the knobs on my controller. But... two knobs for the XY pad. Buying this also knocked $100 off what it would cost me to finish off my Output collection. I can get Analog Strings and Analog Brass & Winds plus 11 expansions for about $250. Don't know if I need that stuff, and there's a LOT on my list for this month. I will try to resist the GAS. Please don't tempt me.

I've got my license key, although I haven't installed it yet.

I'm trying to decide whether to buy this, which I don't think will add a lot to the Acid 8 that I never use--or buy Embertone's bassoon for another ten bucks. I don't need that either, as I have many bassoons, but I might get more fun out of it. Decisions....

ADATA is now my preferred company for SSDs. I will never buy Samsung again. The 2 TB version of this is only $209. If BF wasn't coming so soon I would buy it, even though I don't need it right now. But you always need drive space eventually. ?

VSL Epic Orchestra 2.0 is relatively new and came out earlier this year. It is a major update to an old library. It is 73 GBs, ten times the size of the old one. If you want to start up with orchestral, I'd take a look into Spitfire's Albion ONE, Audio Imperia's Nucleus, Orchestral Tools' Inspire 1 and 2, ProjectSAM's Symphobia Series, and Sonic Score's Amadeus Symphonic Orchestra.

Yes, they do, and I have it. ? It's very good. Perfect if you just want to load something up in a hurry and don't want to start your DAW.

This comes as a freebie with VI Pro 7 and now they are selling it for the first time on its own. It's not an Orchestral VI that is comprehensive enough to use on its own. It has things that many libraries don't, like Oboe d'Amore, Cornet, Fanfare Trumpets, etc. But for example, the Woodwinds are mapped out as one preset with the instruments spread out over the keyboard. The sounds are beautiful, but I think that this is meant as a supplement to your existing libraries as well as an ad for how good VSL instruments are. Also, if you don't have Cubase, you need to buy a dongle for this. But then you can download their free Big Bang Orchestra. Miroslav has everything you need, but it is a very old library. There's a lot of libraries available today that will make your music sound much better, and are easier to use. Many great choices, it's just a question of how much you're willing to spend. But Black Friday sales are coming up soon.

FYI, I had an existing Groove 3 plan that expires in April of 2020. I wrote Groove 3's customer service and asked if I should wait until my plan expires or put the code in now. And the guy said that the iZotope code will expire at a certain point, so it's best to put it in now. When I did, my subscription changed from expiring in April 2020 to April 2021. So if you are holding onto your Groove 3 code for a rainy day, you should know that it won't last forever. If you want to know how long it's good, you should check with Groove 3. They have really fast customer service. I was waiting for the bugs to get out of the system on MPS 3 before upgrading. It was a breeze to do. Everything went quickly. Just followed the email. Used the iZotope Portal and made sure to activate the reverbs in iLok. And because of all of you, I got the free upgrade! ? I never would have thought to ask about a grace period because I bought in early August. And wow, those reverbs are outstanding. So thank you guys! And thank you iZotope!
