  1. Thank you! I'm more than happy to engage on that. If you have any specific questions, I can readily answer - other than just detailing some general stuff . For starters, I was sitting in the back passenger-side seat to track things. My laptop and MOTU were on the seat next to me. The laptop was powered through a sin wave cigarette lighter adapter (the other one that wasn't sin wave made noise in the recording), and the MOTU got power directly through Firewire cable and 2 adapters (because PC not Mac). I had a permanently placed mic stand + boom in the front seat that was "wedge positioned" to go through the front seat head rest and hold the mic right in front of me. Then I had the usual Stedman metal pop filter and a very large tri-fold baffle thing behind the mic to dead reflections. Behind me I hung a blanket to deaden the rest of the car behind me. I was using Samson mixing headphones the whole time, which have since been upgraded to Sennheisers. Let me know what else you'd like to know
  2. Hm, I don't see a way I can move it. I don't want to have 2 identical posts out there. What should I do?
  3. Hey everyone, @bitflipper posted my 2nd new song "Power Over You" a few days ago. I'm following up today with the my first release from my "Car EP" project - "Haunted", and I'd love to get your feedback on the songwriting and arrangement. Like the rest of the EP, it was written and tracked in my car in Cakewalk (sans the final drums - which were done at my friend's studio), then post-production was done later in my home studio. Matt Dougherty (Megadeth / Disturbed) handled the final mix. This was actually my first release in 13 years, and was an absolutely massive undertaking. I hope you like it! Official Music Video: Here's Spotify is that's of more interest to some of you: Thank you again for being such a great and supportive community. Brian
  4. Thank you! It was a Lauten Atlantis mic with a very large tri-fold baffle thing behind the mic, that surely helped I didn't register it, but yeah it is a little Stargate . I was thinking kinda Scorpion King or something, but yes!
  5. And thank you so much for posting this Mr. bitflipper You're awesome!
  6. That's great to hear! Thanks for the comment and the listen. My stuff runs the gamut from full on ballad (coming 3 songs from now) to total rocking metal. You may enjoy some others. I'll make sure to post here on release :)
  7. Thank you sir! I totally spaced to post the song here, thanks to bitflipper for reminding me about this place! I'll bookmark it for next time for sure. I have been using Cakewalk again since Bandlab bought it back after a brief 1-song stint with Reaper, so it makes sense to post here. Very oddly, BTW, this song was written and recorded in my car at work during lunch. As ridiculous and METAL as that sounds. That's literally the only time I had, with 2YO twin boys at home. Now I'm finally - 6 years later - getting all these songs finished up and pro sounding, but with those original car vocal and guitar recordings.
  8. @John Vere, I don't think I'm seeing what should be there on the help menu. There is a menu item for "Sign Out From Bandlab", which indicates I am signed in. Then there are menu options for Offline Activation, which I don't know how to use. Is there supposed to be something else?
  9. So hey I think the settings on that page above fixed it. For whoever finds this in the future. I'll try the settings with my Audient ID44 also and see if it works properly again. The MOTU is good to go.
  10. I've found this page, referencing settings that don't exist anymore! It looked promising but alas, gone. https://www.cakewalk.com/Documentation?product=Cakewalk&language=3&help=Troubleshooting.20.html Unless anyone knows where they've moved? There is no Audio -> Sync and Caching page in Preferences. Oh....I see it, you have to click the "Advanced" radio button to make it appear. Let me try this.
  11. I plugged a MOTU Traveler mk3 into my Windows 10 laptop Thunderbolt port with 2 more adapters. One turned Firewire into Thunderbolt 2 and the other turned Thunderbolt 2 into Thunderbolt 3 (for which I have a jack). Surprisingly it worked fine and gave the MOTU power. I might have got those backward but I can look them up if you like.
  12. Hmm, I just uninstalled MalwareBytes but it still happens. You recommend doing what? Looking at process explorer and shutting things down to see what works? I restored my laptop to factory condition to try and fix the Audient, which used to work. It didn't help. Also forgot to mention I'm not using a USB hub. Those are terrible.
  13. I'm recording at 96k, 24 bit. Even when playing back the track (not recording), the audio drops out sometimes (doesn't stop, but skips a bit). It's a brand new interface, the MOTU mk5 Ultralite. I tried to change the buffer size to the max (21.3msec, 2048 samples) but it doesn't help. Also, I moved the song folder to the C drive since it's solid state and faster. What else should I try to troubleshoot? I'm on Windows 10 OriginPC Laptop that's pretty fast. 6 cores at 4.54Ghz and 32MB RAM. I also have an Audient ID44 interface but I stopped using it because it records pops and crackling artifacts every 10 seconds or so. It does not however have any issues playing back the same song. FYI, Audient support was extremely slow (3-4 days for each reply) and didn't offer anything that helped. Both devices connect through USB-C cable to the Thunderbolt port. Thanks, -Brian
