  1. Thanks everyone. Some helpful suggestions there!
  2. Hi all I have a Roland A800 controller which has the rather irritating spring loaded modulation lever rather than mod wheel. As soon as I use this (as this afternoon with Garritan Personal Orchestra) it reduces the volume of the VST at the 'at rest' position and I can only get a reasonable amount of volume if I push it and hold away from the at rest location. As I mention it is spring loaded so if I leave go of it it returns to the base position. If I don't touch it volume is fine but I thus cannot use it for orchestral swells etc. Could anyone give me some advice on this please as it is really frustrating - I've been putting up with it for years as I don't perform live but it is annoying! I tried moving the modwheel controller in the Garritan GUI to a higher position but it just reverts to a low volume as soon as I touch the lever again Thanks in advance
  3. You did indeed. I should have read it properly. Been off the PC due to dodgy shoulder so a new game probably wouldn't have been a good idea anyway! ?
  4. Ah damn I'm too late anyway! It's still 25 April here!
  5. Is this a free standing game (with single player option) or do you have to have an earlier version of AC?
  6. I noticed that my (non music production) laptop didn't seem to have the 100 disc access problems it has had for years and had slowed it down to a crawl after the latest update. Only booted it once so hoping it wasn't just a temporary thing! Haven't noticed much difference on my SSD system drive PC though - but that was quick anyway ?
  7. Ah thanks I didn't know any of that - I should RTFM ? I'll give those ideas a try. I wonder why velocity appears to work on the strings - unless the effect of increasing the attack makes them sound louder?
  8. I have an orchestral project in Cakewalk by Bandlab which uses the Garritan PO for all instruments. I have just replaced most of the brass instruments as I had the Project SAM brass instruments in there and for some reason they do not appear to be generating any sound apart from the Tuba (another mystery!) The trumpets are too strident during most of the piece so I have tried to reduce their output by reducing their velocity in the automation window but they do not change volume - this work perfectly well in the strings and timpani where I have automated velocity previously. Any ideas most welcome!
  9. I've just downloaded it - as mentioned earlier much of the stuff is in Kontakt Player and other freebies from NI but the good news is it doesn't install them again! The bad news is that when doing it's initial VST scan it locks up on Amplitube 4 so I've uninstalled that (I think there was an issue with my install anyway) and doesn't seem to want to load SampleTank3 or Miroslav2 ? Not sure what it does with the VSTs yet - does it read their presets too? Still waiting for it to get through the scan!
  10. Thanks from me too. I wondered how to have more than one open too. I often want to have two instances of IK Miroslav open so I can see the whole orchestra at once
  11. Just downloaded this one - they have some great sounds in this free series
  12. Thanks everyone for the new forum - looking forward to asking stupid questions and getting helpful answers from the great people who made the previous forum such a great place to learn from
