Actually, newer versions of Sonar or Cakewalk by BandLab have other dither options, such as POW-r 1, 2, and 3. I don't know much about the difference between triangle and rectangular dither, but these options are not noise-shaped dither. I usually use triangle dither when I dither to 24-bit. However, when I dither to 16-bit, I usually choose an algorithm that has a noise-shaping option, such as POW-r 3. Noise shaping means that the noise is often louder in higher frequencies and quieter in the mid or low range, which can sound more comfortable to the ears. Ultimately, it comes down to personal preference and the source material. The differences between dither algorithms are very subtle.

Bitwig Studio is listed as $149? Does Bitwig go this cheap? The upgrade is $129, only $20 difference...? I wish upgrade price were cheaper. https://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/BitwigStu5Pro--bitwig-studio-5-producer-daw-software

I apologize if my previous comment came across as recommending the purchase of plugins. That was not my intention. I strongly believe that it's possible to create exceptional EDM tracks without spending additional money on plugins, as there are numerous high-quality free options available. Regarding the evolution of modern EDM, it does rely on utilizing advanced tools and techniques that contribute to improved sound quality. However, it's important to note that using specific plugins, such as SSL, is not a requirement for producing EDM. By exploring demo versions of paid plugins, one can gain valuable insights into their sound characteristics. Understanding different sound possibilities is crucial for enhancing sound design, which is at the core of the EDM genre.

Understanding how a good plugin sounds can actually help you improve your skills. Some people claim that gear doesn't matter and that you should focus solely on skill development. While I respect such opinions, I believe having a different perspective is also important, so I can share my thoughts. Based on my experience and the reality I've observed, it's evident that producers and engineers often invest significant amounts of money in expensive mixing consoles and hardware compressors to achieve the ultimate sound they desire. The cost of such equipment can be equivalent to buying a car. Personally, I have been able to enhance my skills by learning about the quality of great sound and the tools that aim to achieve specific goals. Plugins, unlike hardware, are generally affordable and there are plenty of good free options available as well. I recommend trying out some paid plugin analog emulations like SSL and API. By demoing them, you won't incur any financial loss. A lot of EDM producers use SSL Bus comps, such as Glue, and API 2500. On the other hand, deadmau5 would say SSL on EDM makes no sense lol. (Edit: A little bit context here, he said it doesn't make sense to use SSL bus comp to trigger side chain, not that he is anti analog emulations nor anything. )

There are two possible bugs I have encountered. The first one occurs when I assign a knob to a VST plugin's parameter in the FX chain. When I move the knob, nothing happens—it doesn't work. However, when I close the UI and move the FX chain to a different track, the knob works perfectly. The second bug I experienced was related to using the quick group feature to change plugin parameters on multiple tracks in the mixing console view. Specifically, when I tested it with the Air Windows console plugin, some of the parameters didn't work properly. I had to reassign them, and then they functioned correctly. I haven't tried to reproduce them in a different project file.

I can't really say much about the quality differences, but generally speaking, paid plugins sound really good. Cakewalk by BandLab comes with the PC4K S-type Bus compressor, which is free and should have somewhat of an SSL sound. The PC4K S-type Channel Compressor is a paid plugin. There's also a paid SSL channel strip made by Sonimus, which is not an exact emulation. The compressor on the strip looks more like a bus compressor than a channel compressor, and it doesn't have a gate. So, you could potentially use the free 4k bus compressor in a similar way as you would with the Sonimus SSL channel strip, maybe. If you are a beginner, I recommend demoing some paid plugins to understand how they sound. By doing that, you may realize how easily you can achieve the sound you are looking for.

I also just bought Mixbox thinking it would work. I haven't received the license so I can't register it now but hope it's not excluded from the group buy...

I can get ik tape free on purchase on audio deluxe and then I can join this group buy?

I like Swedone. Swedone

Plugin doctor demo version is actually enough to analyze single plugins If you want to mimic the curve of a plugin chain then this one is very useful. So in that sense, both are not free but free.

What's this? 69? 760? It seems like Helios 69

Just A Note and Question Re: Adaptive Limiter
Quick Math replied to Keni's topic in Instruments & Effects
You can try Unlimited. Its a free plugin and relatively easy to use (no attack nor release). It's probably the best among free limiter plugins and I think it's as good as commercial products or even better. https://plugins4free.com/plugin/2843/ Other than that, some people say they like barricade by tonebooster which used to be a commercial product. Their v3 plugins are free so you could try it as well. Personally I do not own Adaptive limiter so I wish I could have it. -
I bought FL studio so many years ago. I really like how they get all cool new features over the years even though I never really finished a single song on FL studio. I wonder if I ever get used to it... It looks super cool that you can use Patcher and creat your own GUI for it...

TDR Nova SideChain doesn't work on Buss or AUX
Quick Math replied to EnglandBross's topic in Instruments & Effects
No, I haven't contacted TDR so maybe we could ask them. There was a thread about it like a year ago. -
TDR Nova SideChain doesn't work on Buss or AUX
Quick Math replied to EnglandBross's topic in Instruments & Effects
I also had a similar problem for VST3 versions of TDR plugins last time(a few months ago though). I saw a post somewhere, it works if you don't use 64 bit double precision. But if this is a kind of bug that can be fixed, I want this to be fixed. -
Get Need 73 Console EQ on the latest issue https://www.falkemedia-shop.de/sound/beat-english/beat-english-05/2023 After buying the issue, you need to request (register) the license, and the website requires an email address but it apparently doesn't accept gmail so you might need to contact them. In my case, I tried gmail as well as other email address but none worked. I contacted them and I got the license.

Same, TSAR-1R is the only ProChannel I don't own. TSAR-1R usually goes as low as $39 but I hope it goes lower than that. Untill then I will wait.
-
This is the cheapest price I have ever seen so I bought it! After installing the plugin, the ProChannel version didn't work so I tried this version (v2.5.39.0) instead. I installed it to a different directory and then moved the Softube folder that contains vst2 dlls to C:\Program Files\Cakewalk\Shared Utilities\Internal It seems the installer overwrites vst3 files so you could temporarily remove the vst3 dll files to somewhere. (I didn't do that so my VST3 files are v2.5.39.0 and VST2 files arev2.5.58.0...) https://www.softube.com/installer-windows Also I didn't test them that much yet but it seems working.

I bought Samplitude Pro Suite a few months ago (the upgrade price was $149 iirc) and thought I'd use Independence Pro but it is tied to ST and can't use it on other DAWs...

You gotta run away to a hill when there's a Tsunami. Staying calm isn't a good idea. Also me staying calm was the reason I missed the recent infinistrip deal. Act quickly...

I thought I would buy this today ? I knew $49 was too low and worried about this this. But I was on the fence and thought tomorrow I could buy it after waking up I would buy it. Sadness

Thanks! I was testing a script. With this macro, it automatically sets selected tracks out puts to a new aux track. It's slow and not so reliable...but it works! http://g.recordit.co/S2jszdPsS7.gif
