  1. I bought Oscillation Strings last night... I have most of his stuff and have to say that they are terrific! If you're doing any kind of orchestral/string stuff, you should check these out.
  2. Yep - that's the absolute best choice! Grab it when it's on sale.
  3. Not quite 12-tone serial stuff, but you might enjoy this FREEBIE. You can generate some really crazy stuff with it: https://www.codefn42.com/transition/index.html
  4. Or he's too busy having a great time now that he knows there are so many great choices for him to explore!
  5. I downloaded the demo and I can usually figure out most programs, but I cannot figure out how this connects to a DAW. It says that it creates a MIDI output by itself, but that ain't enough info for me to get it working. This program needs a manual or a tutorial, otherwise, I give up.
  6. I disagree. I create music for me. It's a process that I enjoy. I'm 67 and I think music keeps my brain and body engaged in a healthy way.
  7. That promo is absolutely hilarious - and it's hard to believe they are serious, but I guess they are, and sadly I guess people fall for it. Some of the things they forgot to mention: We are putting this on the internet, so you know it must be true. Don't worry about the price because soon you'll be rich as people will be buying your music as soon as they hear it. We spent a million dollars creating this product, so you know it's great! All you have to do is press one button to make absolutely incredible music - what could be easier?
  8. If you google FREE VST you will probably come up with a lot of stuff. On this forum you can read this thread:
  9. I grabbed the MDoubleTracker... I'd been waiting for that one to go on sale. You might be saying "Well I could just duplicate a track and pan each one left/right." And you could do that. (And I have done that.) But just demo the MDoubleTracker and you'll see how it very slightly varies the pitch and timing of the track to create a really nice stereo effect. Highly recommended!
  10. EZbass is definitely sending out the key switch info. I will check tonight about the CC messages. Even without using CC data, I am getting pleasing results with the far-superior sounding AmpleSound basses that make it worthwhile even if they don't match the exact articulations of the EZbass instrument.
  11. I have Scaler 2 and Chordjam. Scaler 2 contains a LOT of material with LOTS of different ways to use it. So, if you are looking for something you can play with for many years (and keep finding new stuff in it!), then go with Scaler 2. Chordjam is a fun, learn it in one day, kind of program. And describing it as a generative happy accident finder is an apt description. Want a free, "happy accident" chord progression finder? Try this: https://chordi.co/
  12. I did not try the MIDI output from EZBass with MODO bass, but I had good success with the AmpleSound basses. You just need to translate the EZBass articulations to your VST bass. In AmpleSound, it was just a matter of sliding the EZBass MIDI articulation note up/down to match the MIDI articulation note that AmpleSound uses.
  13. Remove? Not me... I keep everything... and well sorted and organized. I purchased a new computer recently and I have 10TB of M2.SSD storage, so I should be good for awhile.
  14. There's a free program called Sitala that is ideal for creating drum kits using those drum samples. (And that is an INCREDIBLE collection!) https://decomposer.de/sitala/
  15. I'm with Reid. Whether it's EZKeys or EZBass, I would rather use my instruments than the Toontrack instruments. I don't mean to knock the Toontrack instruments, as they are OK - just nothing special... I find my AmpleSound basses and Modartt keys give me a much better sound. I do like the Toontrack environment for creating MIDI tracks and yes, I do like their MIDI packs.
  16. Just to add my feedback - I've always thought Mike Greene as the owner/developer of Realitone, was very fair, actually fairer than most. Not too many software companies will give you a refund after 30 days - actually most will not give you a refund at all! I bought Hip-Hop Creator shortly after it came out and it was a mess - a real bad mess. It had major problems with the Kontakt output routing, so I spoke with Mike's online rep Bill and he admitted the problems and tried working with me for a few weeks to get it fixed, but I eventually decided to get a refund. And there was no issue at all in getting the refund. About a year later I noticed that Mike had made some improvements to the program and I bought it again. I must say I don't know much (anything?) about hip-hop, but I do enjoy using the program.
  17. Not my style either, but I bought it about a year ago and yes, its a very fun plugin. And it's surprisingly deep as you are essentially manipulating 16 samples at a time, each with varying levels of complexity. I suggest watching the demo videos on the Realitone website. https://realitone.com/products/hip-hop-creator Also, this product was created by well-known producer Mike Greene, who has worked with many artists, including hip-hop musicians, so the sounds he provides are the real deal.
  18. Hehe.... DeeringAmps posted it just as I was...
  19. Well, that didn't take long... found a forum where someone posted an image from an early version of the EZBass manual where they listed the keyswitches. (I cannot find this page in the current manual.) So, I made a quick list from the image: A-1 Polyphony (hold). Disable legato A#-1 Harmonic (hold) Play harmonics B-1 Slap/Pop (hold) Play slap sound if available. C0 Not used C#0 Middle Finger/Down Stroke. Play only middle finger/downstroke (no alteration) D0 Repeater (press) Repeat the last played note D#0 Loud Mute (press). Repeat the last played note as a percussive mute E0 Ghost note (press). Repeat the last played note as a ghost note F0 Slide (press and hold). Slide currently playing note to the next note played G0 Slide Up (press). Slide currently playing note up. G#0 Legato (hold). Enable legato.
  20. Has anyone compiled a list of what the keyswitch articulations in EZBass are? I just realized that when you drag a MIDI groove into the daw it brings along the EZBass keyswitches. So it would then be just a matter of transposing them up or down to match (in my case) the Ample Bass keyswitch articulations. I went through the EZBass manual and they don't list their keyswitch articulations - seems like they are purposely not showing them as they want people to use their basses. I've only been playing with EZBass (the full functioning demo) for a couple of days, so someone on the web has probably already posted the EZBass keyswitches, but if not, it won't be too difficult to create.
  21. I'm not adding articulations by playing them - I'm writing them into the track. And that's what EZBass is doing in their program when you add an articulation by clicking on a note and then choosing an articulation.
  22. Yeah, I noticed that right away, but you and I (and quite a few other folks here) seem to prefer better sounding basses than what Toontrack is offering. So, I'm with Reid - I won't be using the Toontrack basses, but will look forward to their Midi packs. And I'll add my articulations to their midi grooves.
  23. I tried the EZBass demo last night. I'm not too impressed with the bass sounds themselves, but the rest of the program seems good. I dragged the EZBass midi patterns out and used some Ample basses and that sounded much better.
  24. Joe Zawinul used to play a reverse keyboard with the highest notes on the left and lowest notes on the right.
  25. Since you have Jamstix 4, check out the jam mode. You can have the program respond to your playing. I have not played with it much, so can't really say how effective it will be, but it's certainly worth exploring since you have the program.
