Have you liked anything in the under 1k range?  Don't think that Neve would be happening for me anytime soon.

*cough* AXE I/O fits the bill *cough* :)

Although I haven't used any of the high-end stuff that Jim's talking about, I have to agree with Peter on the Axe I/O. This is a huge improvement from the normal interfaces. The guitar tone is very close to playing through a real amp....not quite, but very close with full sound in the tonal spectrum.

Greg, I would definitely check it out at a store (if possible) before buying.....it's very good.

I don't have Mezcal, but do have the original Metal Zone stomp pedal (from the late 80's although I don't use it anymore). Not sure what to make out of Mezcal with that type of advertising. xD

    HZ-2 Heavy Mezcal

Going for $6.66 this week (there's also other plugins at a very discounted rate)

This plugin emulates an unpopular pedal sold between 1983 and 1991, guilty of giving a nasty personality to a lot of amazing bands from Sweden in 90's.

Many people thought this distortion to be one of the worst ever made, except the old school Swedish death metal bands.

It's wild and untamed maxed-out distortion is what gave us the "buzzaw" guitar tone.

This plug-in IS Old School Swedish Death Metal!

HZ-2 plugin includes the classic knob parameters:
Level (volume), Color section (Low and High frequencies) and Dist (Gain).

This plugin offers the ability to modify Dist from 0 to 10, instead 0-3 and 8-10 from the original pedal, this way the user has more possibilities to add necessary gain without forgetting the classic configuration (all knobs to 10).

Like all of our plugins, this is compatible with Win and Mac in VST2, VST3, AU & AAX.

  4. Is 20% off generally the best deal that Sonarworks offers or do they have better sales throughout the year?

I'm still on the demo/free version, but will need to get the full version of the Headphone Edition sometime soon. For some reason (short term memory), I could've sworn it was much cheaper than €79.20.

  6. My setup is exactly that....primary is HDMI, secondary is HDMI with a DVI adapter (my graphics card only has 1 HDMI slot).

I did try disconnecting the secondary, and even tried the primary on all the different slots....still no luck. :(

  7. Sorry for the late reply, but I've found out it wasn't the graphics card (although it does have all those symptoms). At some point, I had accidentally hit the VGA button while the monitor is hooked up HDMI....stupid me.

The error message I was getting was "No VGA Signal" (DOH!!). Set the monitor back to HDMI and now getting "No HDMI Signal". I tried the usual recommendations of unplugging the power cable/HDMI and leave it unplugged for 10 min etc... to no avail. Tried the internal graphics HDMI slot, switching between different HDMI slots on my graphics card with no luck. Tried 2 different HDMI cables as well.

Don't really know why it's not seeing the primary monitor's HDMI (it does see the 2nd monitor which is also HDMI).

Of note, the primary monitor works on my older PC via VGA.

  8. Speaking of picks, Brian Walton suggested these Blue Chip Picks:

I haven't tried this yet and not sure if I can really justify paying that price for a pick, but it seems to get good reviews. I generally use heavier/thicker picks (much cheaper ones :) ) and haven't had any issues with wear and tear (can't remember the brand name).

  9. I think my current card is dying (temps around 71 degrees at normal/higher when gaming and now movies won't play). Also my main monitor (1080p) wasn't working (hooked up via HDMI) while the 2nd monitor is hooked up DVI/HDMI connector (both plugged into my graphics card). At times, I could hear the fan getting louder (especially when playing games). The card is also 6 years old.

Any suggestions on a budget graphics card under $200? There are a lot out there and it's a little tough to pick one.I Mostly use it for DAW, movies, light gaming etc...but, would like it to pack a little power.
