Cool, I'll reinstall Sonar tomorrow and see if this helps.

You are correct, the photos are swapped. The new Sonar is the black menu, and CbB is the grey menu. I'll edit my post.

Not backwards... it's the themes I'm using.

I have a strange issue with FX Rack in Sonar that started this week. When I click the "+" to add a plug-in, I no longer get the flyout caret next to "Insert Audio FX". Instead, I get "Insert Audio FX..." and have to click it in order to see my plug-ins. Is there a way to switch back to the flyout caret? Note that CbB still works great in this aspect. "Insert Audio FX" still has the flyout caret.

I would also like an option to turn off the resizable FX bin, Sends, etc. I had no issues with the way it was before.

I've been using my MidiSport 8x8/s since it was released at the turn of the century. It's been my main interface throughout all of Microsoft's iterations (98, XP, Win7, Win8, Win10 and now Win11). I haven't had any of the reported issues, but the only problem I have is M-Audio no longer includes the driver for the SMPTE ports. I tried installing them from the original CD and Win7 drivers, but it won't install in the newer operating systems. So I use MOTU micro express for SMPTE. My MidiSport has been in operation for over 20 years and it unbelievably still works!.. kinda like NASA's Voyager probes. I was surprised when I hooked up my Osmose and it even handles poly aftertouch and MPE! I hope it lasts another 20 years, but I fear one of Microsoft's future updates will pull the plug on it.

I have Soundtoys VST3's installed but I only use them in my test project for creating effects. VST3 makes it convenient when opening several plugins on the screen and bypassing them to hear the difference. VST2 is my goto in every other project until Soundtoys can get their VST3's to behave. ? -

SuperPlate VST2 version 5.4.1 works 100% in my system. I haven't tried VST3 because of the problems with other Soundtoys plugins. -

I found that different revision levels of Soundtoys VST2 works better than others. I'm using the latest release 5.4.1 and its sort of stable... VST3 is loaded in the project I use for making reverb and delay patches and it works ok, but if it starts acting up then I switch to VST2. In all my normal projects I use VST2. Unfortunately Soundtoys doesn't keep previous versions of their plugins on their website (except for 32bit). You have to contact them directly and they'll send you a link. I've started keeping previous versions on my hard drive as a backup. -
I don't know if we're allowed to post from other forums but this optimization process worked for my new DAW: https://gearspace.com/board/showpost.php?p=16176610&postcount=295 I'll use this process anytime I update NVIDIA drivers and I've had no issues with graphics to date. (System details in signature below) Hopefully this will help even if you don't need to follow the entire process.

I'm glad VST2 worked for you! -

I've had trouble with all Soundtoys plugins in Cakewalk ever since they announced support for VST3. My projects intermittently freeze and stutter if there's a Soundtoys VST3 plugin loaded. My workaround is to use their VST2 versions until they can get their VST3's to play nice with Cakewalk. I reported this to Soundtoys and they said they don't do a lot of testing with Cakewalk. Hopefully the new Sonar will have better support from Soundtoys and other manufacturers and developers. -
CBB, MPE, MIDI 2.0 and Expressive Controllers Discussion
Traveler replied to RexRed's topic in Instruments & Effects
I just received my Osmose a few days ago and I can confirm MPE is working great in Cakewalk! I got it exclusively as a controller for Deckard's Dream (which accepts MPE or polyphonic aftertouch), and my other Black Corp synths. I'm sure the Osmose's onboard sounds are great, but I didn't get it for that. The Osmose connects to the MIDI track with the MIDI In channel selected to <Omni>. MIDI Out goes to Deckard's Dream. MIDI Echo is turned on. I also have <Key Aftertouch> and <Channel Aftertouch> selected in Preferences. I did some test recordings and experimented with poly-aftertouch, velocity and individual key pitch bends. Every move on the Osmose was echoed to Deckard's Dream through Cakewalk. Cakewalk recorded all those moves, and placed a ton of controller data in Piano Roll (I'll need to decipher it and make an Instrument Definition). Playback was also good and all the nuances and inflections were intact. I just wanted to give some real world experience with Cakewalk and MPE. Cheers! Reggie -
I don't use many shortcut keys, thanks for suggestion. ? Mouse scrolling would work better because I usually have lots of aux tracks and plug-ins with sidechain ability. Most of the sidechains aren't patched to any particular track, but they're still in the menu and take-up screen real estate.
