Hmmm, I was thinking of getting the SLIDE Bundle but if the Lap Steel is stuck in Open D tuning I may have to reconsider. I'm not savvy enough to muck around with homebrew transposition options yet.

Perhaps "Ethnic" just means "primarily associated with a specific group or area". Guitar is not ethnic, but banjo is. Ukulele is, too. Yes, they can be found around the world but they are PRIMARILY associated with a single area (5-string banjo: an American invention, ukulele: Hawaii). I good with Amplesound's classification.

OK, thanks! I got my freebie but still waiting for my BFD2 replacement. But what I have so far seems to run fine.

Are there SSD monitors to warn when sectors start failing or end-of-life is eminent?

So, what's the status now-a-days? I've transferred my licenses but haven't used it yet. I sill have my old Fxpansion version downloaded, saved, and installed. Should I do anything "special" before installing the new version?

This is EXTREMELY useful!! Thank you for sharing.

I don't have a good tracking room for recording acoustic instruments. And going DI doesn't sound like the an acoustic instrument (except for my Schertler-equiped mandolin). So I use guitar VSTis a lot and, being a guitarist, I can get the fingering and articulations to mimic what I play pretty well. It sounds pretty darn real with AmpleSound instruments. Still need to learn more about OrangeTree. I was pretty disappointed with their mandolin, but it's usually good enough if you stay away from legato, slides, and tremolo. This may be a good opportunity to give them a shot without spending as much as i otherwise would.

I can't find any comparisons between UJAM's virtual drummer and Jamstix. Most of the Jamstix comparisons are very old. At the risk of usurping this thread, is Jamstix still considered to have the best AI?

There's a few cool features, but mostly bug fixes it seems. I guess this doesn't officially qualify as a deal. I wish they'd add guitar fingering notations (little numbers in circles). I think I'll wait for a sale.... Advanced music sharing functionality - Finale now enables you to quickly and easily share your notated documents with anybody. Without leaving the app, you can upload and share privately or publicly. Standard Music Font Layout (SMuFL) support - SMuFL is a growing comprehensive standard that organizes musical characters into a common layout so music fonts are displayed correctly in every notation application that supports it. Spend less time searching for or creating musical symbols and more time making music. Revised instrument list - Our revised instrument list ensures your notation looks great the first time—no matter which instruments you’ve chosen—and that you hear the correct sounds when playing a document. We’ve also added to the list of instruments you can use when starting a new document or editing an existing one. MusicXML 4.0 - The latest version of MusicXML provides even more control when transporting your compositions. With more information than ever now being captured in a MusicXML file, you’ll be able to efficiently and confidently send files between practically any modern music software. Quality-of-life updates - We’ve tackled a lot of known issues, such as unexpected installer behavior and unusable display scaling on Windows, crashes due to macOS quirks, and problems with printing.

I'm STILL getting updates for my old Fireface UFX! Love RME...

Really cool old-timey sound. Would sound way cool in a creepy Steven King movie.

I put Relay on each track (placed first to use it's volume trim) and Neutron on the master track (again placed first).

Native Instruments Komplete upgrade deals starts June 1st!
fret_man replied to Yan Filiatrault's topic in Deals
So, it's been over a week that NI announced this sale, and T&S is the ONLY discounter participating? Is that right? -
Do I need to register one of their products in order to become a Sound Collective member?

I'm thinking it may be wise to go ahead and get the latest update while it's on sale and before they move to a subscription service. At least I'd have the latest version if/when they do. -
Be aware that this is a 200 yr old mandolin, so it's a bowl-back with its inherent rather strident, super-bright sound. Good for classical music. If you're looking for a more modern, folk/bluegrass sound, your only options are Bolder Sounds or Orange Tree. However, the former has the A-strings not tuned together and the latter has too much fret noise and only 1 very slow tremolo speed. I'm convinced a good mandolin VSTi has not yet been made. I wish I could see the 8dio manual to determine if 1) the tremolo speed is variable and 2) the volume can be changed while the tremolo is active ( I guess you could always do that with automation but it wouldn't sound the same as making the pick more/less aggressive). Their demos are not very useful unless you're interested in sound design. They do not show enough tremolo to get a feel for how well it's done, and tremolo is a KEY mandolin technique. I just want you to be aware of what you'd be getting. If you wish, you can read some detailed info on mandolin VSTi's here.

I got a 50% code and I don't think I'm a V8P member.

Hmmm, I got the 30JP, so more than one person got it. I know this doesn't help matters....

Liking those demos...

I picked up Auxiliary because it has castanets. I got "dinged" for not having realistic castanets so I'll give these a try over Sampletank's versions. Although... it may be due to unrealistic playing rather than unrealistic sound samples.

THE STREETLY TAPES - VOLUME 6 for M-Tron Pro® are released today with an introductory 50% OFF!* Volume 6 contains many previously unreleased tapes including Streetly Electronics’ experimental ‘Chaos’ Tapes. The idea behind the Chaos Tapes was to take contrasting musicians recording different notes of the same instruments in order to realise a mismatched, but tonally similar performance across the 35 notes. These tapes were never publicly released, simply because users of the original instrument largely preferred to ‘play it safe’ when it came to installing new tape-frames. However, in testing these within M-Tron Pro, especially when layering them with more uniform tape-banks from the same category, new life and dynamism is breathed into those familiar tones. Other highlights include an ultra rare Vibrato Flute, Jarring Orchestra (a special mix made for Mr Jarre’s ‘97 world tour when Streetly supplied a MKII), Tony Levin’s Electric Cello, two new Custom Orchestra mixes and a new Brass mix. Your continued support has allowed us to delve further into the fascinating world of a great British company whose legacy dates back to the 1930’s, and realise what we believe is another Streetly Tapes volume of distinction and historic significance. So finally, to all of you we say a huge “thank you”. The GForce Software Team

I am utterly impressed with the support given by Ilya Efimov for their instruments. I was hearing click when I had a tremolo'd articulation adjacent (or close) to a sustained note. Envision a player ending a string of tremolo'd notes with a downstroke and letting it ring out - CLICK right at the intersection there. They has a patch within 24 hrs that solved the problem. Upon further working on the piece, I noticed the same issue on two other instruments. Again, I had a patch within 24 hrs. What a GREAT company! I have no financial interest in their success. Just a very happy customer.
