I think I'm going to get the Pro extensions.  I'm sort of bummed because I own 50% of the plugins, but
that doesn't give me the Luna Extensions, and buying them individually would be ridiculously priced...
so I'll opt to buy at Plugin Boutique because of the rewards that effectively reduce the price.   Every place
is the same price - $199, but only PB and AD give "rewards" and PB is lower with tokens and rewards

Isn't it cheaper to just use S1 with Mix Engine FX? Sonar's PC is also very capable. And then there is Harrison Mixbus with their take on analog-ish summing.

they start processes to do updates when you are using their plugins (I did not find out how to avoid this)!

That's a dealbreaker for me. No matter how good their plugins are, launching updates in the middle of a recording session is not appropriate. I steer away from UAD plugins and never use them.

Many people only need a glorified tape recorder

That's how it starts. Then they want a little more, then they start craving other things, available in other products.

But you're right, horses for courses.

    Purchased DIFIX with my credits!

I am surprised, how well this plugin works! Incredible, how a DI guitar together with an amp sim can sound much more realistic with this plugin!

I really wanted to buy this plugin. But when I tested it against similar plugins, I couldn't justify buying it. $5 price tag could've made me reconsider that decision, though.

From the article: "When they tested the silk fabric in direct suppression mode, the researchers found that it could significantly reduce the volume of sounds up to 65 decibels (about as loud as enthusiastic human conversation). In vibration-mediated suppression mode, the fabric could reduce sound transmission up to 75 percent."

That's 12 dB, which is significant, but certainly won't help an acoustic drum set (~110 dB).  I wonder how effective multiple layers could be.

    Cool tech, though.

Isn't it a spherical cow? Walls, floor and ceiling are taken out of the equation. To completely isolate oneself from outer noises, one would have to agree to abide in a water tight cage, made of this fabric. Since voltage must be applied to it as well, this Faraday cage can be extremely dangerous.

  6. I actually find this image disturbing. One dude is sleeping while another dude is rocking the room. Yet we are told that this silk curtain quiets the noise. Yeah, right. Like the walls, floor and ceiling don't convey vibrations. In the Emperor's new clothes, a child's voice was heard. Here, we see a baby helplessly crying in the bed, but no one can hear it.

I guess, for the curtain to effectively veil the noise in the room, it must come with a loud drum kit and a furious, passionate drummer behind it. Or any other source of loud audible vibrations.

  7. I don't mind installers, but... Why this?

    image.png.de63331785cd682e26cc26e61f40ce1f.png

Why do I have to prove to a robot that I am not a robot? What if I am deaf? Or visually impaired? Or don't understand the difference between cars and trucks? Does any of this make me a robot? Stupidest thing I have ever seen on the Internet, and I've seen a lot.

  8. In this time and era of zero musical creativity but serious RnD in reconstructing legendary tones, these kits bring back the fun of (re-)creating good ol' songs.

  9. RTL numbers don't mean much unless they come with rock solid performance. E.g., on my laptop theoretically I can get 5.3ms of RTL, however, it's completely unusable.  9.8ms is where the usable range starts in my case. Still, it's not much, as it feels like being 9ft (3m) away from cabinet or monitors. 1ms would be much closer to using in-ear monitors than actual on-stage live band experience.

It's interesting you found something, because WA Productions says my antivirus was making it up, this is what was found by myself

     FILE RISK Trojan(win32/heur generic.HyoD68kB)

this is just unpacking the file and scanning it, not trying to install it.

no way i'll be putting that on my computer.

In that case, better safe than sorry. However, I would strongly advise to re-download the archive and check the file on VirusTotal. It is possible, that this threat comes from a trojan that is already present in your system.

PS What I have found is nil, nada. YMMV.
