So yeah.. I’m picking Electric Storm.. not cause it’s the most true-to-life thing.. but because i can finish something with it..  I can get it out, ready it quickly, and create something fast.. and that matters more to me than if the pinch harmonic bends just right under scrutiny

I want something that reaches ears.. not something that waits for perfection and never leaves the DAW..

That's a very solid choice! Something to keep in mind about NI Session Guitarist libs, though: they don't go to eleven above G#6.

If you don't need those higher pitched notes, you are all set.

  2. I ran some comparisons between the first and second generation of UJAM guitars and was bitterly disappointed. V2 guitars lack consistency: samples are not trimmed precisely, so more often than not guitar parts sound out of time.  Arpeggiators in V2 are counterintuitive. While DI signal and instrument mode look promising, I find that Kontakt based guitar libraries deliver much better results. However, UJAM basses v2 are great.

if you get the Custom3 bundle  https://www.uaudio.com/uad-plugins/custom-bundles.html
you can pick from catalog 3 plugins (even the amps sims currently on sale for around $149) for $109 then if you have the $25 discount coupon (don't know if that appears for everyone or only previous customers) including that drops price down to $28 per plugin.

Three great sounding plugins for the price of one AmPlug3 and a cable sounds like a great deal. I wish my CPU was a bit more capable, though. Unfortunately, can't run even one amp sim, neither at useable buffer size (128 samples) nor at maxed out (2048 samples).

Still thinking about getting these with the future upgrade in mind.

  4. I really loved this place. Used to come here every day. I don't feel like buying more plugins, instruments or, god forbid, DAWs, but I enjoyed the vibe of this community. It was great with Larry and even better when Mr. Anderton was around. And scook. And azslow. I still love (platonically) all regulars, mods and devs, and just wish people were more appreciative of unsung heroes who grace us with their presence.

By the way the worst was PAs bx_cleansweep (I was surprised)!

Interesting! I find PA's plugins to be highly CPU efficient.  A little less so compared to NF, ToneBoosters (v2 and v3, which are now free), and, of course, Overloud. My guess is that bx_cleansweap was one of their first plugins and still has a lot of legacy amateurish code.

    Hi

Andrea at Pettinhouse is busy developing a Guitar library that he says is more realistic - he posted the video below - I don't think he has released it yet but it might be interesting if he succeeds in making these Guitar libraries sound more authentic - without having to spend days trying to program them!!

Thanks, Nigel! This example shows a fairly simple rhythm, which can be mimicked with basically any decent rompler on the market, and NI Session Guitarist libs run circles around it. I'm seriously considering OTS Complete bundle, but the more I think about it, the more it becomes obvious, that I need to invest more time in practicing keyboard playing. :D

    Hi

Think Jesse did  got it about right!

The mix is good and overall this sounds OK

Thanks! I take it, it's good enough for mockups and demos.

I need to learn how to program virtual guitars to make them sound a little better than OK. As of now, extensive MIDI programming kills my creative impulses and inspiration.

  8. Currently, I'm evaluating SLIDE bundle, particularly, Lap Steel instrument and do find it worth every cent.

Seriously speaking, the more I think about, the more it makes sense to buy libraries of instruments that I don't actually play.  I'm trying to decide between Banjo and ...
