  1. I have three screens my main screen is duplicated and a 4090 graphics card. All three 3840x2160 Latest Nvidia studio drivers.
  2. It doesn't behave the same way it pulls to the right, and that has been the case with two different mice. I noticed it the instant I first used it in the new Sonar. I just bought a new mouse and it was happening on the old one as well. You have to have a waveform moving behind it. When you move it ahead it cascades quickly but when you move it back it very slightly fights you. It does not have the same tension both ways, at least in my experience. The other knobs don't seem to do this.
  3. I enjoy when people rehash things, it helps me learn them better. I am sorry for the misunderstanding on my part. I took your comment the wrong way. I wish I was not so reactionary in such times as these. I am sure I can learn from you, and your opinion is valuable to me. Speak your mind... 🙂
  4. You don't have to read it... I am sure you can learn something from someone who has used Cakewalk since MSDOS And has over 500 songs... My music on YouTube is currently up to 100,000,000 plays. Show some respect please. If I can take the time out of my life to write and post this here the least you can do is have some decorum.
  5. I actually use this video card every day for work and it has doubled my productivity. I own around $20.000 worth of 3d models and have a paying job doing 3D art. It pays my bills... Some of us have uses for video cards other than playing games with them. And some gamers earn a living playing games. The day the 5090 comes out I will try and buy one of those as well. And I paid under 2k for the 4090 card. About what my REM Fireface UCX II audio interface cost. Why have inferior tools to earn a living with? Is that spoiled or a good business investment? Why use a club when you need a hammer? Why use pliers when you need a wrench?
  6. Weighting system off in Pro Channel EQ HP dial. I have noticed this started in Sonar but it was not like this in CBB. When I click the HP dial in the EQ app in Pro Channel, the dial seems to have a mind of its own and drags itself forward as if it has some sort of odd weighting system is applied. It fights me now. The weighting system on the knob is all wrong. It is like when you put your foot on the break, the drive train is still engaged. It wants to go on its own and yanks you ahead. Can you look into this? I use the Pro Channel EQ in all of my songs, in all of my tracks, and something is not right here. Can you set it back to the way it was?
  7. Many career gamers use games as an instrument to perform live art. Some games you buy outright and some you pay-per-play. The ones you pay-per-play seem to stick around longer, they are developed and evolve over time. Some games are free and are developed through the purchases of in-game assets. I am reminded of an episode of Gilligan's Island when the professor made some candles and sold them to the other islanders. The islanders brought the candles back complaining that the candles he sold them had no wicks. The professor exclaimed, "Oh, but the wicks will cost you extra!". I agree, owning Cakewalk is a security, but everything is dependent on something else. Guitars need a lifetime supply of strings, wood, a repair person when the wood gets old and needs replacing, guitar pics, polish, tools to maintain it. Now you could buy a forest to replenish the wood in the guitar and mine to get metals and smelting, metallurgy skill to make new strings all so you can own the entire guitar's "security" lock, stock and barrel. At some point we need to rely on others and trust them in a mutual partnership. It takes a village, not just any village but a village that shares the right skillset for your needs. Samples we use for songs we want to own them but some samples are "songs" these songs come with dual ownership. We rent them with a user agreement. Craftsman tools come with a lifetime manufacturer's warranty, if one breaks you can get a replacement. But Home Depot will rent tools to you or sell you Craftsman tools. Automobiles require new tools these days rendering the old tools obsolete. New tools may only work with a certain model and make, why buy them for only one use? Why buy a new "tool" when in a year it can become obsolete and not work with technology? Obsolescence is not a good strategy for security. At the essence of all of this is profitability of the product, without profitability, principle cannot be turned around and reinvested into the product for development. Subscription models create great profitability and profitability yields a better product as long as the profit is reinvested wisely back into the product. On the other hand, without profitability a product will over time lose value. Cakewalk is a dynamic thing. It requires constant updating and development. It is also a standard, where, when everyone has the same version, one project will load in another installation. Cakewalk benefits from constant development of one version and standard for all. When there are too many standards, then consumers lose. Currently there are only two widely used standards of Cakewalk in the wild, one static standard CBB and one dynamic standard CS. This is a highly beneficial model for artists. With both models respectively, collaboration is universal. For the new dynamic model of Sonar, developers have a universal, changing landscape with which to create new standards in unison with the current market. As other DAWs adopt this model, healthy competition will hopefully make the choices as affordable as possible for artists. What is best for consumers and Cakewalk? A highly affordable, universal model is best. You can cancel at any time and you generally own the music you make with it. Your projects benefit most from the vitality of Cakewalk's development. And Cakewalk is always ready to adopt new technologies into its skillsets. We all must weigh security with compatibility. Compatibility is also security. When an old version of Cakewalk is no longer compatible with new technology then "security" is lost. Cakewalk exists within a dynamic ecosystem and must be able to change with it. Compatibility is security. Cakewalk is optimized to work with the new efficiency and power cores. Each new release fixes bugs for everyone across the board. This is also security Continuing to load legacy projects as well. Everyone wins together, we all get wicks for our candles! 😄
  8. Yea, the scrub key, that is it! Not sure if that fixed my project though.
  9. Cakewalk has some "issues" they are minor, but there are always workarounds. Currently, when I open Cakewalk, the start screen likes to close unexpectedly. I just go to the file menu and open it again. But the part of the new Cakewalk Sonar that work is fantastic!!! And, it eclipses the Bandlab version 100 times over. And if there are more midi improvements coming i.e. like a lot less latency when effects are enabled, that would be VERY GOOD! As for waiting till Cakewalk has a paid version... I will start off with the fact that I am SPOILED ROTTEN... I bought Cakewalk for lifetime updates and figured I would never have to pay for my DAW, ever again. How cheap of me... Then there was Cakewalk by Bandlab that was, FREE!!!! The spoiled me even further. I probably have 25 subscriptions I pay each month to, Amazon, Izotope, UVI, Netflix Hulu, Microsoft, Apple, Google, YouTube, Adobe, Reverbnation... (Oh and the list goes on and on) Why is the Cakewalk subscription so hard to swallow? Well it is not, I happily pay it along with the others. But a part of me wishes I could buy Cakewalk outright again (I'm spoiled). Yet, another part of me says, but the program would suffer if it could not continually support itself. I would rather pay a subscription than see Cakewalk fall into neglect. Of all the subscriptions I pay for, Cakewalk is the one that I could not live without. Cakewalk is the core of my existence. Music is my livelihood and also the source of my income and I definitely do not like any other DAW and I have tried them. I started using Cakewalk back when MSDOS was the only version available. Why would a World of Warcraft subscription be fine but Cakewalk not be fine? Personally, if Cakewalk offers people the ability to buy Cakewalk outright it would possibly weaken the program so I would oppose such a move. I need Cakewalk robust and flourishing, I have over 500 multitrack songs locked away in Cakewalk's proprietary music system. I have a vested interest in Cakewalk being supported. I must prioritize what is important to me and, keeping Cakewalk supported and alive is priority one! There is Cakewalk by Bandlab (as long as they do not keep caving in and updating that....) I will pay the Sonar subscription gladly and the improvements are "amazing"! Now if the supermarket would just give me food for life, and the hospitals healthcare for life and the filling station gasoline for life. lol Once I get the right perspective, a few buck a month for Cakewalk Sonar is just right (says Goldilocks). 🙂 If I can't afford Cakewalk well, something else will definitely go first. Maybe, Life, Look, Time or the Saturday Evening Post....
  10. You are right Xoo this was a very serious problem, The file got truncated as well, I believe. It loads and pretends to be okay. I never got the other tracks to play. I copied and pasted what I could from the project to an older project that did not have the problem. I was in the middle of a save when this all happened. The mouse pointer changed to a green headphone icon and would only let me into the track view the control panel area seemed locked. But the X worked and I clicked on it several times till Cakewalk closed.... (I blame Elon Musk) lol Also, when I copied a Melodyne track (group of clips) from one project to another, the clips copied fine but, "without any of my Melodyne edits".
  11. Your advice is very helpful, If I aim for that particular location that you have outlined it is more responsive. It would still be nice to be able to defeat other behavior there when not in use. 🙂
  12. Too much going on in the ruler in Cakewalk Sonar... I click in the ruler to choose my song position I would like it to play from; it zooms the song in or out. I click again and it selects the song. A tiny sliver or some arbitrary amount. I have to "ctrl shift A" to unselect and I do this hundreds of time during the process of making a song. Like every 10 minutes... When I want to click on a marker it fights me. Almost every time. I spend hours fighting with the ruler, each time I need to click there it is an act of luck if I will actually be able to position the now bar there or not. I try to click towards the top of it but even that only works about 1/4 of the time. Usually, something else unintended happens. It is a constant break in my train of work. I would like to be able to disable all of that other stuff. If I am not working with markers I do not need them clickable. I would reenable marker edit if needed. If I am not trying to select a portion of the song I do not need select active in the ruler. If I am not trying to zoom in or out I do not need zoom active. 90% of the time I just want it faithfully go to the song position where I click it to go and where I click it. It is hard enough when the timeline is a moving target to click it anyway than to also have an obstacle course thrown into the mix. Please give us the options to turn all of the other ruler behavior temporarily on or off singly at will so we can have the ruler behave with a narrow or custom array of actions. I can't get work done with the ruler constantly doing everything else but what I need it to do. The ruler is narrow as it is and to have all of that other stuff in the mix makes it impossible to use it for simply moving to a song position while the song is playing. There are only a few times in the course of making a song where I select an area to loop. I never use the ruler to zoom I always use the plus and minus signs in the bottom left. I really need a way to shut off all of this other stuff. Or, give us a second ruler above it that is only for time location. But, I would prefer shutting all the other stuff off when I am not using it. I use markers in every song and I do loop my songs with selections to record, but this is only a very minute amount of time I need those abilities actually active. Right click on the ruler, check boxes drop down select the behaviors you want active. Zoom Select Markers Now Time Thank you. 🙂
  13. The mouse pointer turned into a green headphone now only one track will play. I don't have anything soloed, or muted. None of the tracks will sound but one. I copied some vocals tracks from this project into an earlier project and they play fine... Not sure what is up...
  14. I bought an Nvidia 4090 graphics card and now (along with the last Sonar update) Cakewalk is solid as a rock. One graphics card is doing what both of my 3090s were doing. I couldn't be any more pleased with Cakewalk's performance!
  15. I am not here to report an anomaly... Contrarily, I am here to compliment how nicely the last update improves Cakewalk Sonar's performance; both recording and playback and plugin overhead balancing. A substantial gain in system stability and a prime reason why the subscription is truly worth its weight in gold... Thank you to the developers, this update hit the nail on the head, further cementing Cakewalk's dominance in the market as the industry standard! When I scrub my brain I really cannot imagine how Cakewalk could be any better at this point! Not even an occasional hiccup. Cakewalk is truly a work of mastery and fine tuning of PC assets. Again, THANK YOU to any and all responsible for this engine update... You have a very satisfied customer and fan! ⭐

    Ever True

Yes, my thoughts exactly, I noticed the vocals were not sitting well in the mix and adding the harmonies would be a gargantuan task but could be worth it. I wondered if the harmonies in the chorus might take away from the intimacy of the song (where did that choir come from? 🙂 ) but it would be nice to try, They would certainly give the lead vocal more credence. Ooos and ahhs in the verse part would also help the vocal flow better there as well. Thanks for the tips Steve!
  17. Mouse movement makes Cakewalk playback stutter. It plays perfectly smooth until I move my mouse. I figured out what is causing this.... I have two graphics cards in my system. Both of them are Nvidia 3090s (same brand). When I disable the one that is on my secondary PCIE slot in the device manager, the stuttering goes away completely even when I move my mouse. My question is, is there a way to tell Cakewalk Sonar to use only one of the graphics cards so I can keep the second one enabled in the background? This makes sense because one of the PCIE slots is connected directly to the CPU and the other PCIE slot is connected to the chipset... This logically can cause a bit of incongruence. I would like to keep both enabled but just have Cakewalk use only the faster card/slot. Leaving the card enabled does not just interrupt the graphics when I move my mouse, it also stutters the audio.
  18. Yes, great suggestion but that did not work either, same exact issue. The only solution so far is to have Cakewalk save the project as a new name and import audio into a new folder. Then the issue is gone (so it seems). I don't like this "solution" because I am quite certain that audio gets truncated beyond its visible boundaries.
  19. I have done that 100 times and it does not work. I have gone in and turned off Defender and I have tried about ten other things Youtubers suggested and still Windows will not let me save in the folder. It is very odd. The folder has the read only check and nothing I do will remove it. None of the files in the folder (nor any hidden files) have read only attributes. What is even more strange is Windows will let Cakewalk save over a file but it will not let me save a file with a new name in the folder. I have to save the project into a completely new folder while importing audio to that folder and then I can save new projects with new filenames in the new folder. I cannot copy the files out of the folder into a new folder or the problem comes with them. I cannot copy teh folder to another drive or place as the read only problem comes with the new folder and files. This problem exists with about 20 or so of my song folders.

    Ever True

Hello awesome Cakewalk peeps! Here is my latest, critiques and comments are welcome! Much love and thanks for listening! RexRed 💝
  21. When I hold the shift key and double click on a project file, "every single time" I get this message: "Sonar will now personalize your user settings by copying application data files. This my take a few moments click OK to continue or Cancel to abort the personalization". If I click OK or Cancel, Cakewalk attempts to load the file with corrupted VSTs and crashes. But, if I hold the shift key immediately after I double click then the safe mode dialogue opens instead. So apparently it has been changed, for whatever reasons. I discovered how to get safe mode to open by accident because it would not work otherwise.
  22. With the latest version of Cakewalk Sonar, I have to double click the project file and then very quickly hold the shift key to get into safe mode. If I hold shift and double click the project file I "always" get this message instead. "Sonar will now personalize your user settings by copying application data files. This my take a few moments click OK to continue or Cancel to abort the personalization". I did a scan when this all began, it found errors but did not fix this, I reinstalled Izotope and this did not fix it.
  23. Read only that will not un-read only The day before yesterday I got a brilliant idea (so I thought). I noticed when I right clicked on the folder in Windows 11 that I have about 100 current work in progress Cakewalk songs in the folder, there was an icon to add this folder to Google Drive. I recalled that I was paying money to Google drive for some added space and so I thought I would add my songs to Google drive. At the time I had them being backed up with Icloud so I moved them to another drive and right clicked on the WIP folder and they slowly got added to Google Drive. After that I noticed Cakewalk hiccupping a lot and I thought instead I would move them from the slower drive to a solid state drive I have. So I selected them all and moved them out of the Google Drive folder to the solid state drive I have. I went online and deleted them from Google Drive. Now they all have read only status that won't go away no matter what I do. I went on YouTube and looked up the myriad of ways to turn off read only and nothing whatsoever will take that state off. And I was thorough. So I am stuck loading them with Cakewalk and saving them with a new filename in a new folder. I am unsure whether to blame Apple's Icloud or Google drive but something thinks these files belong to them and won't let them become un-read only. I don't think I have experienced something so horrible in a very long time. My songs are locked away in some read only state and I am the one locked out. Yes I can save them manually but I have many versions I keep of songs and they are all read only as well and some of these songs have vsts that don't seem to register, and Cakewalk just crashes while opening on some and I have to load in safe mode and turn off/omit Izotope plugins and then re-add them and guess where my settings were. What a mess! These cloud services have proprietary locks that don't unlock even for the files on your hard drive. I would like to blame Apple because they are the most proprietary but Google has their Android world that can equally lock things up. And I am sure Windows has their hand in this as well. I have watched many YouTube videos that give long procedures to get read only to turn off and "nothing" will remove this from my songs other than having Cakewalk save them one by one into an entirely new respective folder. I just thought I would warn you all and see if any of you have had the fun (cynical) I have had with this terrible experience. These cloud services have decided to limitedly share my files with "me". Fixing this and messing with "permissions" could, well, easily lock me completely out of my hard drive if I am not careful.
