Sub51 has announced the release of Beyond Guitar. Here's what they say: With versions available either for NIʼs Kontakt or Logic Xʼs Sampler, Beyond Guitar offers a range of hauntingly beautiful pads, inspirational loops and a wealth of one-shot samples, all sounding far-removed from their six-string origins. Various proprietary sound design techniques were used to transform the raw sounds from various guitars into something completely new and un-guitar-like, blending the characteristics of synthesis with the organic texture of real instruments. The large library of loops provide rhythmic backdrops and melodic sequences that would fit into a number of modern musical genres from ambient to hip hop. Beyond Guitar's selection of one-shot samples cover a lot of tonal ground and can be used to create custom rhythm loops or 'ear-candy' punctuations. In total there are 33 Tempo syncʼd loops, 76 one-shot Click, Scrapes and Pops, 56 one-shot Effects, 33 Loop Slices, 20 editable Pads and 33 unearthly ambient Spaced one-shots. Further additions include the loops supplied in Apple Loops format and MIDI files for the loop sliced instruments. The Kontakt version, which also includes snapshots supporting Komplete Kontrol, requires the full version of Kontakt v6.5.3 or later. Sounds can be further modified via the Kontakt instrument control pane, which provides straightforward control over Level, Pan, Tune, Attack, Release, Sample Start (not Pads), LPF, HPF, Reverb, Delay, Chorus and Rotate (Pads only). There are also controls for Room and Hall reverb, various Delay types and a tempo- sync'able Chorus and Delay. The LPX Logic Sampler version provides exactly the same library of sounds in .exs format where the filter, modulation and envelope controls may be used to further shape the sounds, which may then be saved as new Sampler presets. Toontrack has updated EZbass to v1.0.9 and announced that a free 10-day trial of EZbass is now available for download. In addition, through the month of May, Toontrack is highlighting that it's been a year since EZbass was released and is dedicating the month in the product's honor. A new EBX expansion and several EZbass MIDI packs are slated for release in May. Changes in EZbass 1.0.9 Bass Tab: Clicking a note and dragging along the string now generates a slide. Bug Fixes in EZbass 1.0.9 General: The master volume was erroneously reset when certain factory presets in EZbass expansions were loaded. The master volume was erroneously stored in and read from user presets. It is now only saved in project save files. Sound Engine: Playing the bass while sounds were loading could sometimes result in too loud samples being played. Some MIDI sequences could sometimes leave a note ringing, eventually causing EZbass to freeze and/or crash. Bouncing would sometimes crash due to this bug. Slides played with the Slide Down and Slide Up keys (F0 and G0) could sometimes be interrupted by other MIDI events and not terminate properly, resulting in a bad slide. The time limit to play a grace note on a MIDI controller is now 40 ms instead of 30 ms, making them a bit easier to trigger. Improved the slide scratch algorithm. Bass Tab: A slide up the bass stopped the string animation instead of making it follow the slide. Grid Editor: If a grace note was selected, the grace note options in the articulations menu were incorrectly grayed out. Song Track: Cutting a MIDI block in the middle of a slide would leave the slide property on the note and that could lead to a crash in the grid editor. Edit Play Style: After changing only Damping (and not Amount) on a song block, saving and loading the project would remove all notes from the song block.
