New plug-in from Smacklabs the SL473 Compressor Based on a VCA design, this compressor has a unique compressor / limiter / expander function that can shape the dynamics of your source. This compressor was the main one for cutting vinyl records from the late 1970s onwards. Known for clean and transparent compression, you can actually compress the source without the typical negative effects. Expander controls are found on the left with yellow buttons. The expander has a fixed attack and ratio, giving the user control of the expander's Threshold and Recovery. The compressor is controlled by the black knobs, with the aspect ratio knob being red. The compressor has a fixed limit, to manage the fixed limit, user can add gain with "Compr Gain" button. This compressor really excels in mastering, mix bus, drum groups and vocals. Yes....freezing basically turns the effected audio signal into a rendered wave file that doesn't require the effect any more, and the beauty is that, if you need to go back and edit it, you can just "unfreeze" it to edit, and then freeze it again once done.
