Thank you, Nigel, for the kind words. I've been enjoying your terrific songs here, but haven't had time to comment. I will soon do that, and keep up the good works. macce, thanks for your input. Very encouraging!

Tom, thanks for your comments and time. I was playing around with this the other day and found that a few minor chords and minor thirds give this a more somber tone, which I found haunting, but I don't want this to be too dire in the long run. And, thanks for listening to the other songs. That guitar tone in CAN'T WAIT is the Fender Super Reverb (which I owned in high school) from Amplitude 4.

Steve, thanks for your input! The guitar solo will come up in the next version. As for the drums, perhaps they're overcompressed? They're preset grooves from Superior Drummer 3 which have good dynamics, usually, unless someone gets too friendly with the compressor.

David, thanks for the compliment! Funny thing about my voice, after years of abuse, I ended up with a gravel-like voice. Freddy, I'm glad to still be here, though I don't yet have all the time that I use to have for this forum, yet. I'm still busy helping family members, but it's all to the good. Thanks for your kind words, and I look forward to spending a little more time here listening to all the cool new songs on this site. Talk to you later!

Steve, I'd love to share a pint or two and chat you up! I remember this beautiful song. I can hardly believe that I had much to do with this because you have one of the most haunting voices I've heard in a long time, and can tell a story with just your phrasing. Thanks for your input. Douglas, thanks a million for your kind words!

SOLVED-Problem with VocAlign Project and VocalSync in ARA 2
Lynn Wilson replied to Lynn Wilson's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
I didn't realize that I had forgotten to post that my problem is solved. After subsequent updates, my system is hunky-dory. I'll edit the title. -
Eureka! I found it! I finally looked at the lens box ( I never uses it) and saw that it could be expanded, so I expanded it and found the top of the console view window floating near the bottom of the screen. I was able to grab it and redock it into the multi-dock. I don't know how it became undocked, but I'll remember that in the future. Thanks again to Ben and Panup for your time and effort to help me!

Daryl and Bjorn, thank you for taking the time to listen and reply. I appreciate your remarks. Steve, first, I'm not at all offended by your comments. I appreciate the thoughtful response, and I understand how the somewhat upbeat music might not fit the overall grimness of the message. I could take these lyrics and apply them to any number of genres and styles, such as heavy metal or country with heavy guitar chords or a steel guitar playing. It's just that this song came so quickly when I sat down at the keyboard that I feel it was meant to be the way it is. But, you got me thinking, and that's all I can ask for. I don't remember your song "Everything is grey", but I'd love to hear it again if you could pass a link along. Leizer, thanks for your thought provoking comments. You may be right, and I'll play around with your ideas.

Thanks, Ben, for your time and effort. Unfortunately, this doesn't help. I haven't tried editing the registry yet, but I will later today.

I have tried this on 3 different projects with no success. Maybe the install went bad; I'll try reinstalling and let you know later. I use only one screen. thanks

Hi everyone. Though I rarely us it, today I called up console view via Alt +2 and the little blue wheel spun for a few seconds and then the entire project lost focus and nothing else happened. So, I went to view>console view and clicked it; same results. Then I closed CW and reopened it and got the same results. I then rebooted my computer and started over with a different project and still couldn't open the console view. I have the very latest version (2019.09 build 70), and console view has never failed before. I went through preferences and found nothing to help me. Any ideas? Thanks in advance. edit: I should add that everything else (markers, piano roll, etc.) shows up in the multi-dock except the console view.

Thanks for your input. Yeah, I usually write long intros, and I wanted to change it up on this. I could easily add a few bars on the intro. Hi Tom, as usual, you have an interesting idea for me to chew on. That's why I appealed to more experienced pianists than me. I'll take all your ideas! Thank you, I really appreciate your kind words!

Hi everyone, personal and family business has kept me busy over the last few months, but I've managed to find a little time in my studio to write this song. I was inspired when I saw schoolkids performing "active shooter" drills on TV, and I was reminded of the "duck and cover" drills that I practiced as a kid to protect myself from nuclear attack. My good friend, Roger Fife, played 5 string bass on this, while I did the rest. Honestly, I'm not much of a piano player, and a better pianist than me could do justice to this song, but it is what it is. I hope you enjoy it, and all comments and suggestions are welcome. As always, thanks in advance! It can be found here: https://www.soundclick.com/artist/default.cfm?bandid=1065571

I used to sell guitars and amps for a music store in my college days. I've seen guys walk in off the street, pick a Telecaster off the wall, plug into a Fender Super Reverb and start pickin' away. Long before stomp boxes and compressors were easily available. Compressors and stomp boxes may make it easier or louder, but this style of music predates all these methods you guys are discussing now. So, I'd advise learning the right hand method first, and then see what you need to take it to the next level. Good luck!

Well, you don't even need a compressor for this. Listen to Roy Buchanan play this style with just his guitar and amp (on YouTube). In fact, do a search on Youtube for chicken picking. It's in the picking hand and the way you hold the pick and strike the strings. A compressor won't hurt, but it's not necessary.

Grem, thanks for having a second helping of "I Must Be In Love". The bg vocal comes from Jacklyn in the voices in Dimension Pro. It kinda blew my mind when I found her.

Sonar 6 was a good program for me, but it never produced anything like this! Remarkable!!
-
Rex, this is not what I was expecting to hear from you, but I like the way you handled this style. Unpredictability is a great asset for any songwriter, and you didn't let me down. I'm looking forward to your next hit!

Freddy, this is so timely! I hope your message is not too late. I like the groove this has, and I think it has mass appeal. I applaud your versatility and arranging skills. I'll be listening to this several more times in the days ahead and will pass this along to several of my friends. Congrats, my friend!

Wow! This is fresh and fun to listen to. I wouldn't change a thing. I'll be back to hear the rest of these songs. Great job!

Apply the hotfix and you can turn it on or off under options>click behavior>set during playback.

Tom, once again you challenge and inspire the rest of us. Your versatility shines! Cool song.

Jesse, thank you for listening to this and your thoughtful reply! My ex-wife and stepdaughter are Guatemalan, and my stepdaughter still lives and works there, so this subject is very close to me. I agree with you about the horns. I'm using Session Horns, and there's only so much I can do with them unless I upgrade to the more expensive version. Actually, being a former trumpet player, I think it's the fall of the notes that can be improved as well as the attack, but I will delve into SH and see if there's something I am missing. The bass drum comes from Superior Drummer 3 which is a vast improvement over what I've used in the past. I'm still getting acquainted with that program, too. Thanks again...

Thank you JW! Your time and kind word are appreciated!

Nice song, Bjorn! I, too, am glad to hear your voice up front in the mix. Your words really bring out the nostalgia in me. Keep em coming!
