Today I installed the latest version of Sonar, and I can say: I think this is the best version in the last year or two! After this update, I now have everything in order with the display of all texts in all windows and sections, the names of modules appeared in the "Style Dial FX" section, which was not there before this update. In addition, the text has now become more contrasting in the windows of the pop-up hint in all places where it appears - on the "Automation" line, in the Piano-roll, etc. And now the track numbers are displayed in the headers, which I also did not have before. And today I am happy - I have a perfectly installed and configured Windows 10 system, I have the best DAW for serious and productive work with music in any style, and the very first project opened today also loaded faster, and is played with less consumption of system resources! I thank with all my heart the entire team of developers and everyone involved in the "polishing" of my favorite program, happiness to you and good health to all!

In theory, synthrack is a one element of the "Browser", where there is also a section for plugins, notes, help, etc. And the "Browser" window is opened and closed by pressing the "B" key on the keyboard by default, if you pin "Synthrack" to the "Browser", you can open and close this section with one "B" key. And in the "Dock" at the bottom of the main window, plugins and the mixer console are pinned, you can open and close the "Dock" with the "D" key on the keyboard.

Sonar 2025.02 (Build 077, 64 bit) Not Releasing System Memory Usage
IgoRr replied to Tom Bednarz's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
I have been using an excellent program for cleaning memory for many years - MZ Ram Booster. This is a free utility with very good settings for any actions to clean memory, including automatically, with settings for "minimum RAM", "Auto-cleaning when starting / shutting down Windows", "Cleaning every ...", etc. In the vast majority of cases, I use it to work with video editors that consume a lot of RAM, I have never needed to use this program to work with Cakewalk or Sonar, but if someone has such problems, then MZ Ram Booster can also be useful. https://mz-ram-booster.en.softonic.com/download -
MIDI song is suddenly not stopping at end of tracks [SOLVED]
IgoRr replied to tdehan's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Also check the Tempo track, maybe you have some events after the last note in the project. In principle, literally any event recorded in any format on any track affects the stop of playback at the end of the project, you just need to find this event. -
Try converting the effects added to the rack to "Convert FX Rack Effects to FX Chain", then holding down the "CTRL" key, you can copy the converted FX block to any other track the required number of times, and then extract the effects in other tracks to the standard format of separate effects using the "Extract FX Chain Plugins" function. This is also not done directly in one click, but it will still save you a lot of time and effort in such operations. Try to perform plugin extraction operations on new tracks by selecting several tracks and holding down the "CTRL" key, it is quite possible that it will work, and you will be able to save even more time.

If you don't need TTS-1 and never use it in your work, there is a guaranteed way to bypass assigning a MIDI output to it: you need to go to the tab at the top "Utilities" and select "Cakewalk Plug-in Manager - DirectX Instruments (DXI)", select TTS-1 in the right part, and click the button at the bottom left "Exclude Plug-in". After that, TTS-1 will no longer appear in the list of suggested outputs from MIDI tracks. If you need TTS-1 again at some point, you can connect it in the reverse order, I have attached an animated screenshot of the entire operation, it is very simple.
-
Yes, indeed, I just now noticed, this is an obvious bug for the developers to note. But the bus is still created, and then you can manually reassign the sender outputs, and on the second issue, everything works normally, Sonar does not crash.
-
Here you go, I did exactly as in your screenshot, and everything works. In addition, when creating a send to a new AUX track, it also works completely normally. You definitely have something wrong with the installation of Sonar, or some problems in the system itself, since such simple actions constantly cause failures.
-
I just checked it in my Sonar - everything works completely normally, after assigning a send to a new bus, this one is instantly created without the slightest problem.
-
Personally, I can say that this latest version (build 077) is very stable, works reliably, predictably, and is noticeably better than previous versions. Although, there are still some minor flaws, but they do not affect the overall operation of DAW. In any case, everything works quite reliably on my computer.

The unfixed CW/Sonar generic asio problem HELP PLEASE
IgoRr replied to jm52's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Does Cakewalk by Bandlab launch (open) itself for you? If so, you first need to configure the system audio - specifically in the system settings (Windows audio settings) select the driver from your sound card for "Playback" and mark it as "Set Default", then select the same driver in Cakewalk. If Cakewalk does not launch, then try deleting the "AUD.INI" file along the route: C:\Users\IGOR\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core -- The next time you launch Cakewalk, it will recreate this file, and you will be able to select any of the drivers available in the system. -
I just checked it in my Sonar - this plugin works completely normally, I have a rather old version - 1.0.3.84 from the "Additional Content" from the SONAR X3 I bought back then. The most likely reason for your failure with this plugin, it seems to me, is either incorrect installation/activation, or the absence/outdated versions of dynamic C++ libraries, read the content of this post on this topic, here you can also download the necessary Visual C++ set: https://discuss.cakewalk.com/topic/80961-resolution-startup-crashes-with-latest-sonar-release/

Random scans while playback or recording windows
IgoRr replied to Bruce Gombrelli's topic in Cakewalk Sonar
Try to create a new empty folder for projects on any other disk, check all the details of this folder: "Read only; hidden; locked", remove all this, then create a shortcut for this folder and place it on the desktop. Then create a new empty project in Sonar (you can open the factory template), and save it to this folder. Close Sonar, and try to run this saved project again, if there is no scanning, then it is better to work with projects in this format. And in general, storing projects on the desktop is far from the best idea, in case of any problems with the system (virus, crash, startup failure, etc.), all your projects will simply disappear, because the desktop - is physically a system disk. You can, of course, make copies, but then why duplicate everything if you can initially store projects on another disk? -
Change driver to WDM/KS and Cakewalk won't launch
IgoRr replied to DaveMichel's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Try deleting the file "AUD.INI" along the route: "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core", when you launch Cakewalk again, it will create this file, but in this way, you reset all previous audio system settings. -
You obviously have some serious problem with Sonar, did it all start after installing the latest update? Try deleting the file "AUD.INI" in the folder "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Sonar", when Sonar starts, this file will be recreated, maybe this will fix your problem. If this does not help, you will definitely need to completely uninstall Sonar/Cakewalk by Bandlab and thoroughly clean out any remnants, folders and registry entries, in order to try to install it all from scratch.

Access to this function is in the main project window at the top in the tab "Process - Run CAL", you can also launch it with a hotkey combination: CTRL + F1. You can customize this combination in "Settings - Keyboards Shortcuts". When you launch the function, a folder with all the contained CAL scripts opens, first you must select the notes (clips, fragments, etc.) you need to change, and then select the desired script in the folder and launch it by double-clicking LMB, or via the "OK" button.

You have everything mixed up - "Cakewalk, Sonar, Bandlab, you don't own anything you create", maybe you just didn't quite understand what is what? Now there are 3 different DAWs - Sonar and Next from the Cakewalk brand, and a program (DAW) called "Cakewalk" from the Bandlab brand. The first two programs are paid, but the Cakewalk by Bandlab program (a much better version then the previous SONAR Platinum) is completely free, with only one condition - is activation through the official website. But after activation, no one encroaches on the results of your creativity, you can check. In addition, there is a special "offline" activation method especially for those users who do not have the Internet. In vain you are so emotional about a completely typical state of affairs, hundreds of other programs are now created and activated according to the same scheme, in this regard, Cakewalk by Bandlab is absolutely no different from them, and it has been completely free since the release of the very first version in 2017 or 2018.

Try opening any project with the "Shift" key pressed, this is a kind of "safe way" to launch Sonar/Cakewalk. In this mode, when you launch a project, you will see a window with a choice of launching plugins and other elements, first try not to load any plugins, if Sonar/Cakewalk starts normally, then it is quite possible that the error will be corrected. Or try deleting the "AUD.INI" file in the folder: "C:\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\Cakewalk\Cakewalk Core" , Sonar/Cakewalk will recreate this file when launched, and maybe this method will help to fix the error when launched.

Have you installed this file: "Sonar Help_Documentation_1.0.0.20.exe", which can be downloaded from the "Help - Check for Update" section? If you haven't installed it, then the "Always Use Local Help" option won't work for you. I always install this file when installing Sonar or Cakewalk by Bandlab (these are separate files for each DAW), and when you select this option in the settings, it is the local help that opens in a format convenient for information and instructions.

solved Clicking on notes in Piano Roll View
IgoRr replied to altoricky's topic in Cakewalk by BandLab
Good day! If you have the "Smart" tool selected, then all the notes you specified appear when you double-click on the note itself, they did not appear as a pop-up hint before. -
There are no problems with the Articulation Map that I created in Cakewalk by Bandlab, it works both in CbB itself and in Sonar. I will attach it here, try to check it yourself. MSS Art-s'.artmap

Good evening everyone! Today I tried to create an "Articulation Map" for the "Audiobro - Modern Scoring Strings (1.1)" library, and Sonar behaved very strangely - all attempts to "Export" a file from the articulation manager ended in failure - the file was saved with only first created section. I tried adding sections gradually, and did "Export" again, but the file continued to weigh the same, and the added sections were not saved. As I added new sections, I overwrote the existing file, then tried to create a new one with a different name, but the result remained zero. I already thought that I was doing something wrong, but in Cakewalk Bandlab I did the same, and everything worked without the slightest error. Then I loaded the articulation file created in Cakewalk Bandlab into Sonar, and everything works fine, but I still couldn't create a normal file in Sonar itself. Can someone check the Articulation Manager for themselves, is the same happening to you? Thanks in advance!
-
I think that a person will not return, if in 20 years he could not understand the functionality of the program to a sufficient degree, and could not figure out just the settings in one export window. It means that he never really liked Sonar/Cakewalk, and now he just found a reason to switch to another program. I am always happy for people who find something they like - a program in which they work comfortably and quickly, some plugins, tools, etc., but I do not understand why people give other reasons when they simply do not like something. And here the subscription system also had an effect, so let's wish the person happiness and joy in the new DAW! And the Cakewalk brand will not suffer from this.

General MIDI Assignment of Instrument to TTS-1?
