  1. I certainly agree with that! 😅 That’s why the first one I got was the SD+ with the four dials. I use one for jog, one for volume on selected tracks, one for pan and the last one for zooming in the project in Cubase and Logic. One swipe on the screen and they control sends. Buttons changes things like snap value and grid on/off, opening the UAD console etc. The SD6 I have opens and closes plugin windows instead of that tedious clicking with the mouse, opening close mixer, channel strips, some transport and so forth. It’s kind of neat.

They are what you make them into I guess😎

  2. That is pretty much what I was thinking the first time I noticed them. Then I was working in a studio where they’d set one up for repetitive tasks, which was great. And then the Stream Deck + came out and I was drooling over the dials. I got one, and then I wanted more buttons. Never looked elsewhere. But they’re not for everyone. Check out the free version of their mobile app if you are curious👍👍

  3. I have two, one Stream Deck+ and a 15-button mkII positioned in front of it - and I use the hell out of them both! Best and most reliable DAW controllers I have ever used. I use them for numerous applications and various types of work, even for controlling or operating several apps in the background while doing things on the app in the foreground. And easy to reconfigure as you go along and what you need them for maybe changes. I love them and think everyone should have at least one 😉

  4. This looks like a useful tool to me and I will probably use it just to keep an eye on things. When mixing and mastering in the good old days, you just needed to listen to the speakers. Now there’s a ton of numbers to pay attention to and none of them makes sense😝

thanks for posting about this, now I have more numbers to look at but they will probably tell me something when I need them to 😎👍

I believe that's where I got mine from! I don't have the receipt but according to the Fedex info, they were shipped from Macomb, MI. Not that I would normally remember but I ordered them exactly 10 years ago after I repainted the room and that popped up in my Facebook memories.

I got a bunch of those square ones that I placed on the side walls, a few of their bass/broadband absorbers, and a large piece (6 x 4 ish) that I placed behind the desk. I had thick black curtains hanging on the front and back walls and every few feet on the side walls, and the floor was carpeted, so the room was not that bright to begin with.  Anyway, I was happy with the result, but I'm no Ethan Winer.

In 2021 a few months before moving out, my ex brought this huge panel that she'd inherited from a customer. She left it behind because she had no room for it in her new home, so I agreed to keep it for her with some of her stuff in the garage. But every time I went downstairs and saw it it felt like such a waste. Seeing that it's unlikely that she'll have room for it any time soon, we agreed that I could use it for as long as I need it, although it technically remains hers.

It weights a ton and it was a pain to carry this thing through tiny corridors and upstairs all by myself and then to install it, in the July heat, but after a couple of hours and a few splinters in my fingers, it was finally in its rightful place, replacing the large bit of acoustic foam. And it does a good job of absorbing frequencies. (You can see a few of those broadband absorbers above it. I couldn't fit them in the corners anymore so I decided to put them wherever - there is no actual reasoning behind their placement).

    Hey buddy!

Glad to see you’re still around here.

    1: Damn that’s a beautiful studio!

2: I really miss my TriggerFinger

3: How many Mac’s do you need?? 😝

@projectm the "couldn't understand a word" comment a tongue in cheek joke, I was wondering if we were to get some throat singing. Which I always find intriguing and fascinating.

Ha ha, gotcha. He does throat singing as well (I am currently practicing it my self) and he’ll be doing that on the album ;)

Mix sounds balanced, didn't understand a word, like Nigel the vox could be a little more forward.

There’s actually no words in the vocals. Joik is an emotional vocal style, I guess, and very rarely has any words. The closest he gets to any actual words is the “wah-wah-wah” phrase he does in the choruses which represents the wolf. On a side note, Fimbulvetr, the long winter before Ragnarok, was caused by the Fenris Wolf eating the sun. But he just do this joik thing after how the song makes him feel - which to me is a very powerful way of singing. And as far as we know, it hasn’t been done like this in a band setting before.

Thanks for checking it out and commenting, Wookiee. I still check out your Sound Cloud when you drop something new ;)

    Hi

i think this sounds good - personally I would have liked the vocals up a little bit but apart from that, really good stuff

    Nigel

Thanks for the feedback. Yeah, I can agree with that. It also needs a better recording of the vocals, so we’ll try that next time too ? Thanks for checking it out!
